This type of system does go against Marciano when in regards to top foes.

Freddie Beshore and Bernie Reynolds, and others didnt last long or held onto any rankings if I recall. Still Marciano blow them out of there for his shot to Walcott.

 

Don't get me wrong; Sullivan was every bit as much a wrecking machine as the likes of Foreman or Louis, but on his tours he also fought a mixed bag of fighters and non-fighters, many of whom were outweighed by as much as 70 pounds.
You got the odd big man like the huge Sylvester Le Gouriff, but mostly the opponents seemed to weigh anything from 140 to 190 pounds, and again a fair percentage weren't fighters by profession.
