Yes, Marciano hit obscenely hard, but Moore was the better technical puncher, sharper puncher, better counter-puncher, etc.

Marciano also had the relatively rare ability to take out a fighter late in the fight-late in the real fights -15 rounds.

Did he hit harder in terms of force than a Shavers or a Tyson or a Foreman? I don't know. But he knew how to maximize the force he generated better than most by using leverage. And his build was excellent to generate power -a baseball catcher's legs/thighs, long torso, short arms...

The Rock broke bones and blood vessels...he almost killed Carmine Vingo...Roland LaStarza had bone chips and vessel damage in his arms after their title fight in 1953..he developed blood clots in his arms and had surgery to repair the damage..he sheared Rex Layne's teeth off at the nubs...he smashed Lee Savold's teeth up into his gums...Marciano ruined guys...it took some fighters months to get over a beating from Marciano...and some were never the same again...Rocky hit like a much bigger man...

The Rock in a Camaro? Nah, it'd be too sleek for him. I see him in an army jeep or a Buick. A Camaro is designed for good-looking cats who wear bryllcream and sharkskin suits ...like someone we know. Like your idol.

Archie Moore because he had more knock outs than anyone in history, he has the record for knock outs so he must hit harder

*I hate it when people bring that argument up

I am inclined to agree with the majority here.

I do however have days when I wonder if Moores power gets sold short. I think that one common opponent credited him with hitting harder than Marciano.

Marciano but I have Joe Louis as the best puncher in the division ever. He combined speed, power and precision like no other.
