or Liston, who only has 14.

But the KO verses TKO argument is not viable. Many fighters hold back when they have a guy helpless and allow the referee to stop it. I have often seen boxers step back and turn to the ref. But if anyone does that it is now being used as proof he just doesn't have the big punch.

Accumilation puncher ? Is that like a humilation puncher as in the way Liston humiliated Patterson x2 ?

I take it you're referring to Besmanoff? Thirteen fight Bob Foster KOD HIM in three rounds!

Which other one time rated heavyweight did Foster stop?
He was only ko'd one other time and it wasnt by Moore!
As I understand it ,against Moore Besmanoff was stopped on a nose injury ?
NB Chuvalo whom I don't consider a puncher had Besmanoff down
    6 times in one fight.

In 3 fights, Besmanoff lasted a total of 9 rds against Georgie Boy!

Though I would class Liston as a top tier heavyweight puncher

I don't know I would call him a dynamite one punch ko artist.:think

I certainly think Liston hit harder than Marciano, but he was maybe no more effective at getting anyone out with one punch?

Which really is the purpose of threads like these to evaluate and re-assess fighters, separating the myths from the realities.
I am profoundly grateful to all who have contributed to this thread,[well apart from Mendoza,] and I know full well most think it is an exercise in reputation derogation on my part. It isn't but I dont care what anyone thinks really.
Next week I might make a thread lauding Mr Rocco Marchegiano to the skies it might not promote so much response, but it could maybe make me more popular[not difficult].

ps did Besmanoff floor Moore?See photo.

You should take your own advice.

Using the Lavorante fight in which Lavorante was carried out on a stretcher to criticize Moore as a puncher was egregious.

A ko is an abbreviation for knocked out, from knocked out of time, being unable to come to scratch inside the allotted ten seconds, now interpreted as being unable to rise from the canvas inside ten seconds and having no other part of one's a body touching the canvas except the soles of ones boxing shoes at the time the referee gets to ten .

I didn't kill Lavorante and the official reason given for his tragic death was the injury sustained in his LAST FIGHT. You leave a nasty taste using him as a crutch to bolster up Moore's ko power.

Don't try and smear me Morbid.
In the interests of your tender sensibilities ,and despite you blaming me for bringing Lavorante's name up, which I didn't, I have changed the wording from," funny "to ," strange" Mr Hypocrite.

I didn't bring Lavorante into the thread Mongoose did and cynically used his stoppage loss to Moore to promote Moore's power.
You're pointing your censorious finger in entirely the wrong direction.
But that won't trouble you will it ? Egregious though it is.

ps Egregious? Is that supposed to impress ? It would make more impression if you could spell VERSUS.

It took Archie 77 Heavyweight fights to Foreman's 81.

Your endless stumbling over your exposed double standards just doesn't stop.:lol: is right.

You are the guy who used the word "funny" to describe this stoppage.

I never said anything about Lavorante's death. I just pointed out that he was carried from the ring after this fight, which is a fact.

No Choklab did. And you were quick to mock Lavorante's early death, class act as always.

"Never win another fight? he only had 2 more!."

That isnt mocking and it didn't refer to his death, but the fact that he only had 2 more fights as you well know , how low can you stoop? And he died 6 months after the Moore fight having had two more fights.
