Who Was The Hardest Puncher Marciano Met?

I think he had the power but not the reflexes and foot speed to chase down and put away difficult targets.

On film, Agramonte and Brion fought very negatively. Louis was only able to tag them good with his jab.

The only two men on film that took the fight to Comeback Louis was Savold and Marciano. And Savold got busted up and knocked out by a left hook.

 

I appreciate your laser focus but since so many of the posters on this thread over lap with the ten other monthly Marciano worship threads points do tend to over lap. If your going to continue to be sharp, perhaps you would focus on heavyweight punchers , not "dangerous punchers in history" and status when Rocky fought them.

Moore, the all time KO king, is not an all time heavyweight puncher, period.

Walcott was capable of delivering for sure but he was erratic and for the most part a poor finisher. He is also not an all time great heavyweight puncher.

Louis was a shell of the man he was in his prime as his post title record clearly shows. He was not knocking anyone out but getting by behind his jab and fragments of past skill.

 

Absolutely terrific post .. all of this is to build cases for Marciano by building up the opposition we all know at the end of the day was small or faded. It's funny to see how much effort is given to justify a man's accomplishments beyond any form of logic.

 

Raw power is strength because it's the ability to deliver a weighted punch at all times. It is not just heavyweights that can have it. Technique does not come into it because it is heavy hands. For Raw power Charles for example did not register at all but he was a great technician who used leverage perfectly well with effective knockout results. Just like Sugar Ray Robinson who was a deadly puncher. Graziano had raw power. But who was the more effective knockout puncher Graziano or Robinson?

At the end of the day it is the result and consistency of them that counts wether it is raw power or sharp technique or not.

 

Walcott was the best puncher he fought. Which says it all really.

Chris Byrd has been in with far more dangerous opposition.

 

Anyone that knows your history knows that none of that is true. Like w many of us, there are some hot moments but you certainly know your stuff.

 

There is no question .. both Klitschkos, Tua, Ike, Holyfield , McCline, Golata .. not even remotely comparable.

 

We disagree with one another but I hope you don't think I have accused you of any of these things.
