What has Ray Arcel to do with this post?
Are you putting Charles name forward as a big puncher?

Arcel was deeply impressed with Walcott's punching ability. His opinion is worth as much as yours, no ?

As for Charles, I'm talking about him getting KO'd by Walcott. Charles would always attest to Walcott being a mighty puncher.
Well, the film's there, we can all see it.

I think Walcott is the right answer, but there's not a lot of evidence for his being murderous as I understand the word outside of the Charles KO. He got four bites at Charles and knocked him out once, three cracks at Maxim without knocking him out, did thirty round with Billy Ketchel without getting him, couldn't stop Fox in two goes stuff like that.

He has a couple more good KO's, a really nice one over John Shkor and a stoppage over Ray - who he couldn't stop in twenty rounds when he was anything but green.

I just admitted there was no Ernie Shavers or George Foreman types around but those he did fight severely knocked out rated heavyweights. Not having a particular type of legitimate puncher on his resume but still having enough examples of legitimate punchers should be enough.

Getting back to Joe Louis not being a puncher of note "at the time" I think the punch was still there but just not so much at top level -as is often the case at the end if a career. Joe did deck Omelio Agramonte and to my knowledge Cleveland big cat Williams did not deck Omelio many loses later.

He never took on a really severe puncher in his career.

So Williams could not punch at 19? Williams already had a 25-0 record at the time he met Omelio and knocked out all but one of his opponents. Could Tyson punch at 19? One more win later Williams would get his New York debut on the under card of Marciano v Lastarza. obviously his people felt Williams was ready by then.

    All true.
But if he was as big as Gerry Cooney or Razor Ruddock no one would doubt him as a monster puncher, based on the Charles and Louis performances alone.
