Okay, but he wasn't the one who mentioned Robert Bellarmine.

Yes, but he was the one that called me "an utter *****" and said i was "full of ****", and then, in a post below that post, explained why he had done so.

It seems perfectly clear to me, but if it wasn't then it absolutely must be by now.

As I was the one who mentioned Bellarmine, I assumed you were replying to me.

    My mistake.

It's a small mistake, and neither one of us should worry about it.

Anyway, things like fan, or fanboy, or nutlicker, as arguing statements are merely logical fallacies, technically called ad hominem circumstancials--arguing that because someone has a point of view, his point of view is illegitimate.

But that isn't true. Native Americans probably have a point of view that they were driven off their land and treaties they made with the government were broken.

That they are looking at it from their own point of view doesn't mean their arguments are wrong.

Actually, everyone has a point of view and so such insults are meaningless.

    Bingo!

Sometimes you are just not allowed to elaborate...

Raw power gets the job done. Technique and timing gets the job done. Both types are effective.

That Robinson is rated so highly as a puncher proves it.

Robinson was a natural welter ,should he be criticized for not facing lhvy's?

Charles was a great p4p fighter, but not a great heavyweight either in standing or as a puncher.imo

Joe Baksi was stopped at his request he had a badly cut eye and the other one was closed, he was never off his feet.He was also nearly 37 years old .
Johnny Haynes had a 22-11- 0 record when he faced Charles he was stopped 11 times in his 14 defeats.

    The Black Dynamite?
Charles twice faced Burley in 1942 Burley scaled 151lbs and 155lbs Charles was 160 and 161.75lbs. In 1942 SRR was typically 144lbs.
In 1943 Charles met Lloyd Marshall, Marshall scaled 165lbs Charles 168lbs.
    SRR weighed between 144/145lbs in1943
Charles met Marshall again in 1946 Marshall scaled 171.75lbs to Charles's169lbs. In1946 SRR's top weight was 156lbs. Charles had his final fight with Marshall in1947 ,Marshall was 168lbs Charles 173lbs.The heaviest SRR scaled in 1947 was 155lbs.
SRR 's heaviest weight was 168lbs ,when he was 41 years old.

I'm not trying to enhance anyones punching ability to make Marciano look better here, I just want some questions answered.

Did Robinson have raw power? Yes or no? Was Robinson an effective knockout puncher?

Did Charles have raw power? Yes or no? Was Charles an effective knockout puncher?

Does a puncher have to have "Raw power" to be considered an effective puncher?

Is a severe puncher an effective puncher?

I'm not differentiating between raw power or any other power.

My stance is SRR is, p4p one of the greatest punchers in the history of boxing , and Charles is not.

Nice try but Baksi was only 26 years old. :nut

Baksi had something like a 32 lb weight advantage and there are no reports of him ever being down or getting tore up this bad. Charles was the only man to stop him in his 73 fight career.

Charles according to this report put a severe beating on him. Baksi apparently tried to quit in the 10th but the ref stopped it in the 11th. I think Charles outslugging a 32 lb heavier contender for his only career stoppage goes well for him as a P4P puncher.

You're right Baksi was 26,I'm probably confusing him with Ray I don't see how cutting Baksi's eye and closing the other qualifies Charles as a p4p puncher? He never floored Baksi , it was an injury stoppage.:huh

"Baksi asked referee Ruby Goldstein to stop the bout, saying that he couldn't see. He had a cut over his left eye, as well as swelling on his left. "

Eleven years ago the Ring published their 100 p4p greatest punchers Charles is not on it.
    Ray Robinson is number eleven.

It alone doesn't qualify but like I said.."it goes well for." Being the only man to stop the tough Baksi in his long career while at a 32 lb disadvantage is quite a punching achievement. Nobody tore Baksi up like that, his nose and mouth was also bleeding profusely, and he was described as being "trounced" and "tiring" at the stoppage.

I posted a more detailed article. The ref refused to stop it when Baksi asked.

I'm not surprised by that omission. I believe Charles' punching ability is criminaly underrated.
