it's Kovalev. although Moorer was a big puncher at the weight, but not quite as destructive as the "Krusher" plus, Moorer's list of opponents were that bad, it made Johnny Nelsons opponents look like members of death row. they were poor.
you do know that Moorer had a weak chin as well as being mentally weak don't you? Sergey would have sent Moorer running up to Heavyweight even quicker than he did do back then.
I know he's chin was so bad that he managed to win a belt and have a decent carrier during one of the best eras in heavyweight history. I will like for kovolev to move up to heavy weight and fight a heavyweight equivalence of George Foreman or David Tua. Speaking of Chin, Kovalev was ktfo with a headgear on. Before you talk about chin do your research you moron.
i've done my research. it says that the granite chinned Tua also got knocked out while wearing headgear. Kovalev thus far has proven to be all right in that department. Moorer beat Cooper and Holyfield. that's it. there wasn't any long reign or anything. Moorer already had his reputation as having a weak mentality and chin before he even fought Foreman as well. i'm not knocking those wins by the way. just don't like that you're trying to make it out to be more than it was.
You see thats the problem with you. You speaks as though Holyfield was bum. You mean to tell me that If you hero Calsaghe whom alter you worship daily on this forum had such a victory on his record you won't be reminding us how he beat the great American heavyweight. Speaking of Cooper, be also reminded that he almost knocked out Holyfield. As bad as the heavyweight division, Kovolev wouldn't make a top ten contender with that chin of he's. Dude you're a biased idiot go to bed.
I think this is a difficult thing to determine. Moorer was solid at 175, his only ko losses were at heavyweight. We don't know if Kov would retain power at heavy or be ably to absorb the same punches Moorer was stopped with at heavy.
That's 1000 times better than *anything* the TOMATO CAN Krusher has ever done in the ring. Congratulations on just winning 1st Place @ the Special Olympics, Genius. Lol..
This is the thing.....this is a comparison thread based on 175. I can admit Kovalev has faced a better overall comp there. What I can't agree with is people trying to use Moorer chin at heavyweight as a strike against him. No one can say if Kov could survive or even accomplish what Moorer did at heavyweight. Fact is Moorer was ducked by every top light heavy while he was there. What he did do was extremely impressive. Seems Kovalev is being ducked by Stevenson, but only time will tell. Whoever you choose this comparison is very, very close if you're at all objective.
Here is the thing. Even at heavyweight Moore's power was respected by main who were much bigger than him. Not only that the man was highly skilled. This guy kovolev is not skilled enough to do what Moore did. Do you really think that Kovolev would have schooled Big George for ten rounds like Moore did or beat Evander Holyfield. Remember this is the same Holyfield who will later go on to tko mike tyson and have a close fight with Lennox Lewis the second time around.
Slightly favour Kovalev but there's not much between them imo. Kovalev faced the better opposition & is a more natural light-heavy, Moorer looked the more explosive of the 2 but against weaker opposition, plus he was a massive weight cutter at the weight. I love some of the boxrec analysis in this thread
I think its very difficult to predict how moving that far up in weight will effect any fighter. Some can adjust, some can't. Bob Foster was a perfect example of this. At light heavyweight he was a cold blooded assassin. At heavyweight his power just didn't translate. Can we actually say Moorer was a better light heavyweight than Foster because of his success at heavyweight? I don't think so.
So was his jaw glass at 175? Was Moorer ever stopped there? What leads you to believe (in your opinion) that Sergay would stop him? Do you thing Kovalev has heavyweight power?
Foreman and Holyfield who people see as exceptional chins had respect for Moore power. There is no one on Kovolev's record that Moore wouldn't have knocked out. Holyfield who lost to Moore will KO kovolev and Kovolev wouldn't have last ten rounds with an old george Foreman and thats a fact.
Moorer went the distance with Evander Holyfield you idiot. Nobody on the TOMATO CAN Krusher's resume comes within the same hemisphere...
