    I say Olivares...

And no, Sugar Ramos and Jose Napoles weren't real Mexicans....I dont count them as they were Mexican on paper only.

I think Battling Torres has to be considered.

    And Enrique Bolanos

As far as Mexican, I would say Olivares. Mexican-American, Chacon.

I think the true answer is probably Oscar. He was global by the time he turned pro and the pride of LA.

Yes he had distractors and such, but he also filled seats at a higher price than others and drew massive TV and PPV audiences.

To put it bluntly, most of the guys who are going to be mentioned here are local and he was worldwide.

I should do this also about Puerto Rican and Puerto Rican American boxers in Puerto Rico....it would be a hot topic, specially concerning "The 4 horses" (Gomez, Benitez. Trinidad and Cotto) lol

I was going to say Bolanos. Many people forget that Art Aragon was of Mexican descent and he may have been the biggest draw of them all.

    "Art Aragon"

    But wasn't he a villain?

I mentioned Torres because he drew huge outdoor gates against Ortiz at the Coliseum and Cruz at Dodger Stadium.

What other fighters got bouts out in the outdoor stadiums?

Bobby and Ruben were absolute warriors but Oscar was far and away the most talented.

A lot of people wanted to see him lose, but they bought tickets to see it. He was a draw.
