Who was the most exciting fighter out of the Fab 4: Leonard, Duran, Hearns, or Hagler?

I think Hearns. Then Duran.. I mean all were exciting I can't really say one or the other too solidly. Hearns came out gunning to test guys chins and then would sometimes in his recklessness to land he would get hit, so that made for excitement. He always tried to test the opponents chin early. Marvin, with Hearns he came out firing, but he could in many fights sit back and wait for the opening and bust the guy up and win down the road. Ray similar. Find the weakness and win however you opponent gives you the win. Tommy forced the win.

 

Hearns followed by Hagler tie Duran and then SRL

Hagler gave me chills he had that Tyson presence

Duran was exciting but he was hot and cold as he moved up

SRL could bring a great buildup but his talent could make a fight one sided if he wanted

 

Hearns clearly for me.

I like Duran, I don't care what the facts are.

 

1 Duran, the machismo was awesome.

2 Then Hearn's because you knew the power he had.

3 Leonard cause he was never out of it.

4 Hagler was workmanlike.

 

You couldn’t go wrong with any of them. It all depends on what part of the sweet science you appreciate the most. Leonard and Hearns probably were more easily appreciated by casual fans. Durion and Hagler may have required a little more sophisticated understanding of the sport to really appreciate their greatness.

 

This is more of a subjective type of topic. We don't deal in facts here.

 

Good point. There's someone for everyone in this lot and more than one truth be told. They were all awesome in their different ways.

 

I always like it when the fab four are discussed, rarely ever mentioned is the fact Duran was 2 or 3 divisions below these guys. If Duran had been the natural middleweight , he'd have beaten all 3 soundly and there'd be no fab 4, just 3 victims

 

I like him the least, but I think it was Leonard. His flurries could be blinding and mixed in with all the fluffy shots would be one nose breaker.

 

To be fair and keep the balanced playing ground you are promoting you have to put him forward as a natural welterweight vs SRL and natural junior middle vs Hearns.

He'd certainly be a frightening proposition to say the least.

 

Duran was the most well rounded of them all and Hearns the least well-rounded. But that's another thing than purely "exciting" to me. Hearns was exciting not just because he could put the opponent away at any time with his awesome speed, power and combos but also because he himself could be hurt at any second.

 

For me Sugar Ray Leonard was the most exciting of all of them he had the Olympic Gold Medal the flair, flurries and showmanship as well the ability to fight when necessary.

Thomas Hearns had a lot heart and a phenomenal jab and career longevity I'd place him second. He was also very likeable

Marvin Hagler I'd place third he had a 12 year Championship reign as Middleweight a excellent knockout record he was also a converted southpaw and naturally right handed he even used to shave his head (even when he could grow a full head of hair) back when everyone had afros because he felt it gave him a advantage with punches slipping off of his head. (In terms of ability of the four I'd place him second but for excitement I will place him third)

I'd place Roberto Duran 4th for me because he wasn't as consistent as the others and his personality was the less than endearing. Excellent Lightweight and he took Leonard to his limit in their first fight.
