I began posting on ESB when you had Ricky Williams fans and Panchito Bojado fans kept saying they would have better careers than Miguel Cotto.

    Good thread here...

edit: obviously this won't fit the thread title, but in terms of a good amateur who didn't find that success in the pros, I'd say Vicente Escobedo.

Breland came to my mind also. Could not handle the rough action of the professionals.

the title of the thread is about FAILING in the pros, it doesnt read "not meeting all expectations for an 18 year pro career".

Muhammad Abdullaev - 2000 Olympic Welterweight Gold Medalist
finished up with a 21-4 record and never won a title

Istvan Kovacs comes to mind. Thorsten May and of course Tyrell Biggs.

if you had a chance to fight for big money, and earn a few million then thats success...

but to contribute to the thread, r'aushee w.a.r.r.e.n is next on the list.

The proliferation of world titles is one thing, but the most important factor is the big promoters who can move their fighters up in the rankings and choose the easiest way to a title by careful matchmaking. For example, Canelo won his first belt by beating a guy who wasn't even competing in his weightclass.

i wouldn't say he failed...dude did win a world title and have some title defenses

michael bennett was pretty promising...dude had some pop and good skills but man as a pro that chin was GARBAGE!!!!..almost his first 2 years as a pro he never went past the first round..if he didn't take them out in the first round, they took him out in the first round which 2 journeymen managed to do..that ko loss to rich lamontagne is one of the brutal ko's ive ever seen on national TV
