Ruiz is a good mention, how he managed to stay in the top for so long is quite impressive...

Truthfully, I think Pavlik, over the course of his successful time was far more offensively varied than Klitschko has been over the course of most of his punches thrown as a world champion (IBF). He's nowhere near the one-two orientedness of this successful version of Klitschko.

    Mhmm.

    Harsh and inaccurate, yes.

Armstrong and Marciano were the first to spring to mind.

I don't agree with anybody mentioned.

All these guys have more variety in their game than they are being given credit for.

Pavlik has a beautiful left hook and a thudding body attack. He beat Jermain Taylor down one fight and managed to outbox him in an immediate rematch.

Wlad has a beautiful left hook that he uses to fine fashion; See Eddie Chambers and Ray Austin, even Wach.

Frazier had a one-gear(forward) fighting style, but he worked the body with both hands, threw tight uppercuts, and adjusted his range and approached depending on the opponents.

You don't make it to a high level in boxing with one trick. You just don't. Watch Ruiz-Chagaev. John Ruiz gives a prime soon-to-be champion a rather tough fight with minimal clinching, he boxes a tight fight inside the pocket and flashes a fine jab. Even he is better than he is currently being given credit for.

Not sure what you exactly mean by one-trick pony but Buster Douglas is the only person that pops in my mind

Not to sound cute, but David Haye.

I can't think of another fighter who more consistently suckers in casual fight fans with promises of destruction and pugilistic thrills, but so rarely delivers the goods. Were it not for his overblown boasts he wouldn't have made even a tenth of the money he has.
