I wasn't really scoring it but if the fight had stopped before the knockdown i would have said povetkin was edging it. He was throwing the most power shots and AJ wasnt doing enough.

However pv was starting to slow last couple of rounds and AJ starting to relax and pick him off.

I was confident AJ would have taken over and done enough the last few rounds.

Typical AJ though, very cagey at times and a little static but hes become very patient and once he sees an opening and gets a guy rocked he usually finishes it.

Even the somewhat biased British commentators scored 1 and 2 to Pov.

Like you said, there was little to separate them till 2:55 when Pov took the round .

Me and you disagree about Joshua a lot but honestly I can't see how anyone had Joshua up. Povetkin was the one in control prior to that right hand.

I thought AJ was able to keep Povetkin off him for most of the round.

Povetkin needed to do more than win the last 10 seconds to win the round in my book.

I don't give rounds on 5 seconds of work if the other guy has done his thing for 2:55.

    My pre-fight pick was Povetkin.

Maybe povetkin by 1 but I do find this facination with scorecards after a guy gets knocked out strange.

The only action of significance in that round was in the last 5 seconds.

And that's why Pov took round one on the overwhelming majority of scorecards.

Povetkin landed better & cleaner shots. And i think he landed more shots too.
Povetkin was able to defend most of the shots AJ picked. Lot of AJs shots were too wide or going to the gloves of Povetkin.
Povetkin was dictating the round and AJ was on the backfoot most of the time.

There is no criteria which could give the round to Joshua IMO

Povetkin needed to get inside & land punches to win the fight.

Any round where he didn't do that was going to the defending champ.

Doing it for a few seconds at the end of the round wasn't enough for me.

Take a step back & get some perspective.

A round where there's very little action can always be given to the defending champ in a title fight.

I did, but I don't have a problem with anyone who scored it to Povetkin.

I give a **** who is a defending champ man.

If a round is razor close score it 10-10 or give it to the guy who landed better / harder.

Saying you do not score even rounds and give them to the defending champ because he is the defending champ is some major biased bs sorry for the harsh words but you can't do this.

If two guys are fighting there is no belt in the right that can edge a round ffs (in theory, obviously some of the corrupt judges are thinking in the same wa)
