I was just wondering because isit me or is Jim Watt the most negative commentator there has ever been? I mean in the studio there was Johnny Nelson and Glen McCrory, two top quality commentatoers, especially Nelson! Klitschko was pretty poor by his standards but Ibragimov was ultra negative and he is a fighter whom you will never look good against. Watt wasnt insightful and just repeated himself but 99.9% of his comments where just plain negative. That Adam Smith is pretty **** aswell, bring back Ian Darke and McCrory, good team and worked well together.
I disagree, I think Watt was right to criticise Klitschko. The point he was making was correct, Klitschko could have & should have stepped it up & knocked him out. This was a typical sterile performance from Klitschko. There were no uppercuts & very few hooks from a much bigger physically & technically superior fighter. I still hope for unification but I don't hold out hope for much entertainment along the way. On top of all that, dissapointingly, Wlad alluded to the fact he'll probably leave the WBC belt for his brother as it's their dream to hold titles simultaneously. Thats great for them but not so great for us. I thought Wlad wanted to be undisputed champion. This whole thing reminded me exactly why I can't get excited about Klitschko. Did you hear the speeches he gave in the build up to the fight? He's a political crusader who happens to fight & thats how he comes off in the ring. I'm sure the fanatics will jump on these comments but I do actually like Klitschko as a man but he has to perform in the ring as well as talk out of it. I'm not sure Klitschko has the character to give us fans what we really want which is a shame.
Yep, I thought Watt called the fight pretty well. Klit should have let the right hand go more in the second half of the fight when he'd soften his opponent up.
When I gave up my Sky TV I was worried I may miss out on some decent fights, including this one. It seems I didn't miss much, and the fight is probably an example of why the current heavyweight scene is so rubbish. If Jim Watt was so negative, I can only assume both fighters were also negative. Still, Wlad's fans seem to be happy, their man chalked up another notch on his record. That's the main thing isn't it?
Jim Watt (the ****) was hilarious. I was half expecting him to run down to the ring WWE style and take on all comers just to liven things up abit. The fight was a shocking bore and I can not wait untill Klitschko gets his arse nailed because he is the best advertisment for the UFC I have ever seen.
Is this worth going to my dads for later on? Wlad was negative against Byrd too whenever Byrd got too close to him.
i stayed up to watch this and was pretty awake and alert through a decent exciting undercard...but then wlad-sultan came on and sent me to sleep. i think i managed around 4 rounds. tried to watch the replay this morning and managed an additional 2 rounds. **** the current hw scene. they might be technically proficient but they are DULL. not sure if wlad will be headlining any more shows in the states unless he fights someone like peter.
i actually turned it over to watch ponting creaming runs left right and centre....the middle overs of a meaningless odi match much more interesting and exciting than a hw unification fight....have things really got this bad.
Wlad seems to be hyped up too much In the general forum by Eastern Euro kids living In America or younger boxing fans and they are way too biased.
Yup. Klit fans border on the fanatical & are totally irrational when it comes to discussing him. Don't understand it. I'm going to tell it how I see it & I want people to tell me if they agree or not. Klitschko is an awesome specimen of an athlete albeit with naturally limited stamina. He is technically very good but lacks the heart of a fighter & his weak chin has only served to worsen his already tentative nature. Fair?
No, Watt was spot on. It's just his whiney Scottish tones that grate Ibragimov was negative, but that was because he knew pretty early on he couldn't do anything here. He simply didn't have the tools as a counter-puncher. He tried sporadically to get inside the jab, at which point Wlad hugged him like a homo, clinging on for dear life I can't blame Ibragimov for that, he was in survival mode. Wlad had a perfect chance to put in a spectacular performance here, and he didn't take it. I bet Ibragimov couldn't believe his luck. He was beaten by a landslide, yet only had to take a couple of right hands all night WOEFUL
