In a sport that requires superb conditioning and stamina, there have not been that many world class fatties. But like say the 5' 7" Basketball player or Centre Half, every now and again someone breaks the mould.

So who were Boxing best fatties?

When I use the term fat fighter, I do mean fighters who were seemingly born fat, not a fighter ala Tim Witherspoon or David Tua who at times were just poorly conditioned.

The fighters that come to mind would be Buster Mathis Snr, Leroy Jones, Willie Meehan and perhaps the most famous, Two Ton Tony Galento.

One thing I have noticed, with the exception of Galento, good fat fighters tend to be cuties, with fast hands and to a point, decent leg speed. They like to fight from a distance, when surely it would seem they were better off using their weight to shove the opposition around.

Tony Tubbs was still effective at times, even when around 245-250 lbs. Of couse, he wasn't as naturally fat as say Buster Mathis, Sr.

*David Tua, in his prime, was fat... but damn effective. I'd put a prime David Tua against anyone in history and feel confident...

Two ton was a prety acomplished heavyweight contender on paper. It is my opinion that he ueoquivocaly deserved his shot at the heavyweight title.

Willie Meehan beat some top pound for pound fighters in four rounders, but was esentialy a four round fight specialist.

I have an imaginary bridge that doesn't exist that I'd like to sell you for all of your possessions. It's a smart bargain.

As Dempsey admitted years after their rivalry:

"Willie kept coming in no matter how hard and often I hit him. There was no way to stop him. Fighting him gave me a feeling of complete frustration. No other opponent ever made me feel so completely helpless."

i gotta say willie gets underrated for those wins. the last one was right in the middle of dempsey's prime. dempsey knew the fight was four rounds, he had 5 of them (i believe) with meehan before and still lost. this was just before he won the title and dempsey was neutralized, even if only for four rounds (keeping in mind that those were his most dangerous rounds!)

*Kool..jump off it :hey let me give u some boxing knowledge..for free this time...
*David Tua, is 260 lbs in his prime! hits like a ton and never gets tired! Tua Ko'ed Ruiz like he stole something.. u know how hard it is to fight a guy like Ruiz..much less knock the **** out of him.
*Big George Forman who was 225 lbs and was terrorizing Frazier,Norton and co, would be 40 lbs lighter than Tua... if u think Frazier gave Ali problems... what would Tua do?
*Tua went 12 rounds with Ike Ibeabuchi in one of the last truly great heavyweight fights! People still debate just how great Ikeabuchi would've been.
*Holmes is considered great...I'd bet it all that Tua..a prime Tua.. would win by murder.
i could go on and on... by why would i? Ur living under an imaginary bridge that ur trying to sell... grow up,kid... next time,i'll have to charge u.:hi:
