Jones was just a natural ring general. I don't think any middleweight would outbox him at this weight.

Echols was a good fighter, I remember he walked Hopkins into a couple of bombs and someone as cagey as Hopkins just doesn't walk into big power punches like that

Probably the most overated win on his resume in my opinion. Maybe DLH second. Teeto was no way ever a middleweight. He was exposed by just about every bigger guy he fought that was worth a ****.

Bottom line is he doesnt really have a lot of great wins at middleweight. Just a bunch of average to good middleweights. Guys like Echols and Allen, Jackson, Mercado, Eastman, Holmes, Vanderpool. No world beaters really. DLH, Trinidad, even Allen werent true middles.

Disapointed when he lost to Lacy, was that 1 premature? Before that he was trying to get a Calzaghe fight, I think he was another 1 who was too small for 168

Sure no offense meant by it, but I always felt Tito was a great welterweight because he was so much stronger than most of his opposition. He didnt do everything great, was somewhat one dimensional, but strong and relentless. Once that size factor was taken out of the equation, he became somewhat ordinary really, so it was no suprise he was beaten one sidedly by Hopkins who was always a full fledged middleweight.
I suppose the Joppy blowout was some cause for all that hype, but Joppy was a small guy too who really wasnt that good and his trainer (same as Rahman Adrian Davis) came up with a stupid fight strategy for both him and Rahman which caused them both to get brutally knocked out.
He told both fighters to stick their hands straight out when their opponents got close, it was like sticking their chin out with no defense and both were flattened.

Trinidad was his best win at the weight, despite all of the negatives being attributed to it. Not a great scalp in the grand scheme of things, but a very good one certainly. Better than anything else he accomplished at the weight, anyway.

Yeah i see what you're saying, it's the same for Oscar in a way, for me he was always a welterweight naturally, and as soon as he got to 147 he started to win and lose more or less evenly (the way i saw his fights). But you can just take the standpoint that both Trinidad and Oscar did make their respective lower weights and were successful at them, it's not like Trinidad was cheating by being stronger than his opponents at 147 (no handrwaps comments please!!, haha), and the same for Oscar at 130/135 etc. I think it's a good win for Hopkins solely on the basis that Tito was established firmly at the weight, and was favoured, regardless to the circumstances. The win is usually either overrated or underrated, as people either blow it out of proportion or write it off as a nothing win because Tito only achieved greatness at the lower weight.

Its funny because I was 100% sure that Tito was going to get a one way beating from Hopkins.
You really think he was firmly established as a middleweight with a win over Joppy, who was really just a Don King smoke and mirrors champion, kind of like Keith Holmes.

Does anyone think Delahoya has a case for being a better win than Tito?

No, oscar never impressed me much above 147.Tito was the better fighter at those weights imo, though maybe not by a huge margin.
