You know... The strongest, most durable, unsluggable come-forward fighter. The fighter who you couldn't dent or push back, no matter who you were.

Let's do the classic eight divisions.

I think it's got to be Henry Armstrong for both featherweight and lightweight, and Dick Tiger for middleweight.

    Heavyweight is hard.

    Frazier or Marciano at Heavyweight.

    Qawi at Lt. Heavyweight.

Someone like Briscoe was more reminiscent of Armstrong, in my opinion, than Tiger. Although if it's purely about strength, slugging, etc. than yeah I'd go with Tiger.

    Maybe Basilio at Welterweight.

    Fenech at Bantamweight.

Probably someone like Harada or Borkhorsor at Flyweight.

Didn't Beau Jack push Armstrong back in their fight? If so, is the consensus that he wouldn't be able to repeat the feat against a peak Armstrong? The guy looks like a tank.

That's true and I thought of Beau Jack last night (thinking about this thread :nut). He indeed was built like a tank.

He may be a more solid pick for lightweight, but I can't discount efforts like Armstrong's against Garcia.

How so? He was pushed back many a time, in fact didn't even attempt to fight certain fighters with a come-forward style. Much more of a boxer-puncher than a come-forward pressure fighter the majority of the time, although it depended on the opponent, really.

Cobra,Beau Jack who I saw at his peak MANY times was not a bullish type fighter like Henry Armstrong though Beau had muscles oin top of muscles. Beau Jack needed distance for his assortment of hooks, crosses, uppercuts,
bolo punches, triple jabs, etc. A windmill fighter, who tried to avoid close quarters like Armstrong did. He beat Armstrong who was 31 years old, in 1943, by being too fast for Henry, and it is possible that at their 135 bests, Beau Jack had his number, though Jack could never accomplish what Armstrong did in his career.

Jeffries would be a good call, if he had fought in that style ,but from what I undertand he usually laid back and countered.
    I therefore picked Marciano.

yeah I agree on the Briscoe thing. Armstrong was a swarmer, I don't see Tiger as a swarmer, he was a slugger the way I see it.

Frazier was a swarmer. Also, Qawi is infinitely more fitting here than Saad imo
