    Definitely. He's a guy that seems to have definitely gotten more well loved and respected as he ages.

    IMHO, yes. According to my Dad, Jack wasn't really all that popular (if you define popular as being liked) before the 2nd Tunney fight, but he did have a degree of popularity for a while after the Firpo fight. He was popular during his reign if you count name recognition.

    I do recall reading at times as champ he was definitely not universally liked. By the time he was in his middle age things of course had changed.

    Dad noted that, when James Figg defeated opponents in Swords or Cudgel Fights, there were almost never rematches recorded.
