Someone said on here Mercer was the fourth best heavyweight of the 90`s era and it got me thinking, who were the top 4 of that decade? Also would Mercer be a Top 4 heavyweight today if he was in his prime?

Mercer of the Lewis fight would be a top 4 today IMO. I mean, look at Ruiz.

    Tyson
I don't see him beating Ruiz , Fury or AJ, him vs Wilder is a 50/50 fight and
I think he beats most of the guys outside the top 4.

    Holyfield
    Lewis
    Bowe
    Tyson

1&2 are switchable as are 3&4.
Beats Wilder and Joshua, 50-50 with Ruiz and loses to Usyk and Fury

    So yeah probably top 4.

I'd also put Ruddock, Moorer, Douglas, Ibeabuchi, and McCall ahead of Mercer (h2h). Mercer is the same level as Tua and 90s Foreman IMO.

Ruiz has far faster hands than Mercder had, he would have outclased Ray easily.

I feel Mercer may have beat Tyson during the 90`s.

Mercer had a better jab, a better chin and more power. No one is getting 'outclassed' regardless of winner.
