Tyson has wins over Stewart, Ruddock (2), Bruno, Seldon and Botha. 2 were belt holders, 1 a former belt holder with a single loss, 1 with a single loss on cuts to #1 contender Holyfield and 2 wins over the 3rd best heavyweight at the time. All 6 of them were Top 10 ranked. And despite Mike being absent for half the decade I feel he did more than anyone not named Holyfield, Lewis or Bowe. Foreman's best wins: Moorer, Lakusta, Stewart, Cooney, Rodriguez, Coetzer, Schulz and Savarese. Moorer: Holyfield, Botha, Stewart, Cooper, Schulz and Vaughn Bean. McCall: Lewis, Holmes, Seldon, Ferguson, Damiani and Maskaev. Ibeabuchi: Tua and Byrd. Tua: Lakusta, Ruiz, Rahman, Maskaev, Izon and Darroll Wilson. Mercer: Morrison, Witherspoon, Damiani, Cooper and Ferguson. Morrison: Foreman, Ruddock, Williams, Hipp and Vaulin. Holmes: Mercer, Lakusta, Ribalta, Ferguson, Bonecrusher and Mo Harris. Bruno: McCall, Coetzer, Ribalta and Carl Williams. Lakusta: Walker, Stonewalker and Tony Morrison.
Well, Mike happened to do more than most anyways. Despite the early 90's being deep with talent the decade started to fall off once Mike returned from prison. He went 9-3 with 7 KO's (should've been 8)... L KO 10 Douglas W KO 1 Tillman W KO 1 Stewart W KO 7 Ruddock W UD 12 Ruddock W DQ 1 McNeeley W KO 3 Mathis W KO 3 Bruno W KO 1 Seldon L KO 11 Holyfield L DQ 3 Holyfield W KO 5 Botha Not a bad group of fighters on his ledger. I feel Moorer has the bigger win over Holyfield for 2 belts but Moorer's next biggest win is either Schulz for the vacant IBF strap or his KO over Botha. Followed would be his KO over Stewart and then a defense win over Vaughn Bean, and that's about it.
No way. Ruiz a much as I dislike him achieved far more than Ruddock. That's a fact. Who did Ruddock beat again? He's known for losing to Tommy Morrison in an action fight. Bruno was near done for, so I keep hearing when he fought Tyson, and Seldon's chin was so fragile it was an insult to glass. IMO Tua's wins over Rhaman, Maskeav, and Ruiz. > than Tyson's wins over Ruddock, an older Bruno and exposed and chinny Seldon. Tua also has better tier two wins Wilson was undefeated coming of a big KO won over Briggs. Izon was a top ten contender at one point, I think. Tubbs was a good fringe contender type.
1. Holyfield- He was HW Champ in '90, '91, '92, '93, '94, '96, '97, '98, '99. In total he was a HW World Champ for about 5 1/2 years in the '90's. He beat Lineal HW World Champs Douglas, Foreman (Hall of Famer), Holmes (Hall of Famer), Bowe (Hall of Famer), Tyson x2 (Hall of Famer), and Moorer. He also had a Draw with Lineal HW World Champ and Hall of Famer Lewis. He beat WBO HW Champ Mercer. He had losses to Bowe x2, Moorer, and Lewis but all of these losses came past the age of 30, he was 37 for the Lewis rematch. 2. Lewis- Held a HW World Title belt in '93, '94, '97, '98, and '99. He beat Ruddock, Tucker, Bruno, Morrison, Mercer, McCall, Akinwande, Golota, Briggs, and Holyfield (Hall of Famer). He lost to McCall in their first fight, KO2. 3. Bowe- He wasn't on top long but he beat Biggs, Tubbs (barely), Seldon, Coetzer, Holyfield 2 out of 3, Hide, Gonzalez, and Golota x2 (ugly DQ wins and he took a lot of punishment). His only loss was a close one to Holyfield. 4. Foreman- He beat Cooney, lost a hard fought decision to Holyfield, beat Coetzer, lost to Morrison who had to run to win, beat Moorer, beat Schulz, beat Savarese, and was robbed vs. Briggs. 5. Holmes- He beat Mercer, lost a decision to Holyfield, beat Ribalta, Ferguson, lost a very close decision to McCall, lost a very close decision Nielsen, and beat Bonecrusher Smith (rematch). 6. Tyson- He beat Ruddock x2, Mathis, Bruno (rematch), Seldon, lost twice to Holyfield, beat Botha. Had a NC with Norris.
Larry Holmes made Ray Mercer look like a Tough Man competitor. Holmes did as well vs. Holyfield as Mercer did... and Holmes didn't get knocked down. Holmes lost by 1 point to WBC Champ McCall at the age of 46. Mercer had a solid win over Witherspoon and a close loss to Lewis though.
