Kean and Balogun may be options.

    Wallin?
    Ajagba?
    Mckean?

People say he's wasting his prime, but he's not exactly great quality. Just a heavy hitter. Anyone decent will own him.

Makhmudov is slow, clumsy, and stiff, with bad defense.

Joshua gets called stiff, but Makhmudov makes Joshua look like a prime Muhammad Ali.

Well Wilder made a good career out of being just a heavy hitter. I don't think anyone thinks this guy is the next great fighter or anything. Stiff as he is he's still a frightening guy with power and should be mixing it up with better opposition.

Fair point but Wilder was fighting the likes of Ortiz and Fury at 32 years old.

What is Makh doing? KOing bums like Wach? At 33?

I was saying that Makhmudov is so stiff, that Joshua, a fighter who many people call stiff, looks like a prime Muhammad Ali COMPARED to Makhmudov.

Reading comprehension is not your strong suit.

He should fight a guy like Babic to get his name out there

    Takam would be good.

    Bakole would be very good.

    Helenius would be ideal

"Well Wilder made a good career out of being just a heavy hitter."

False. Wilder has a lot more attributes and more skill than Makhmudov, who had a far more extensive amateur record than Wilder and turned pro much later but still found himself getting hit a lot by and losing multiple rounds to a 42 year old, 14 months inactive Wach of all people. Makhmudov has massive power but there's a good chance that a prime, near-invulnerable Wach would have proven to be a stylistic nightmare and beaten him.

Any of those fighters would be good choices, as far as I am concerned...but I'm not optimistic those fights can be made.

    • Kabayel seems reluctant to work outside the EU
    • Kuzmin is living/working out of Russia, so I don't think he's in the mix right now
    • Simon Kean doesn't seem very ambitious
Which leaves Balogun. He's not a young man, so I think he should he would really need to take a big chance to try to get his name out there. Balogun is a puncher, but Makh is too big of an assignment and about three-four levels up from anybody Balogun has ever fought.

Balogun would take the fight. Mak hits hard of course but Wach showed he is not a difficult target to find and Balogun might fancy doing more damage than Wach did.

Both Whyte and Makhmudov lost rounds to Wach imo. But even if someone was of the view that Whyte and Makhmudov won every round, the fights were competitive and Wach landed a lot, which is dangerous considering Wach has a decent punch and the guys he was fighting aren't known for their granite chins.

Should be let if the leash a little in my opinion. Most of the top 20 have fights lined up though. Get him in with bakole or maybe a takam or molina type

Bottom line is he needs to step up and fight a top contender.
