After the fall out with his trainer...knowing the Cotto family I believe he will drop his uncle, however I don't think he will look outside P.R .

Papa Trinidad looks like a viable prospect as a trainer.

What are your thoughts on this?

Well in an ideal world i would pick Eddie Mustafa Muhammad, Nazim Richardson or Ronnie Shields (roach and sr are occupied), but that isn't very likely so i am guessing he will go for Calderon's trainer.

I doubt it since Roach has agreed to train Margarito from now on.

I don't like Nacho, or Mayweather for Cotto, he doesn't need them, that is so generic for anyone to pick them. Roach isn't a bad choice but that is such a popular answer and I think Roach is too busy for Cotto, Nacho isn't defensive minded enough, and although Cotto has pretty good defense, if he has a weakness it would have to be that. Mayweather senior is not a good style for Cotto at this point in his career. I guess Calderon's trainer would not be bad, but i really don't know much about him other than being Calderon's trainer.

Assuming that Roach had the time and interest to take on another high profile fighter, it would be a smarter move on his part to pick Cotto over Margarito. Cotto already has a superb skill set so Roach wouldn't have to teach him too many new techniques but more less provide him proper advice and strategy while working the corner. Margarito on the other hand would be a project for Roach considering his strenghts are not based on his technique but instead on aggression and stamina; not to mention the scandal that he would all of a sudden be put in the middle of.

forget all the trainers mentioned. i think Atlas would actually be a good fit i know he think he knows every thing but i think he could bring something new to cotto.

or even someone along the line of say enzo calzaghe or joe goosen
