No doubt, sparring is sparring. I don't think the sparring was very recent either, so things could very well have changed. I was just surprised to hear that Ward was less worried about himself facing Dirrell than I was for him facing Dirrell. Ward's boxing IQ shits on mine as he usually knows what he's talking about so I tend to put quite a bit of stock into his claims and statements. Still, even if they sparred in the past, fought each other in the amateurs, or fought a real fight in the past, the night they are schedulled to meet in this tournament is a whole new night. Dirrell has learned much since then, but Ward has learned as well. I must say, I am not too thrilled about Dirrell's footwork, balance and stance though.

The Euros aren't going to want to hear this, but Ward kicked Kessler's ass much more handily than Calzaghe did, and I don't think it's due to Kessler being shot (just my opinion, time will tell). And it had nothing to do with the girly little "dirty tactics" excuses that a good portion of the 85% of people here who picked Kessler are using. Many Euros would just much rather say Kessler was shot to preserve Calzaghe's overhyped, nostalgic win over Kessler, than admit that Andre Ward simply whooped that ass unlike any man before him. I think it would be similar to saying Trinidad lossed to Hopkins because he was shot. Well, I guess he was shot by the end of the night, but that's not why he lossed from the beginning of the night.

Oh, if AA beats Dirrell, no surprise at all. I was just commenting on what Dirrell is capable of, not what I think he will do. That fight is too close for me to call at this time. I think it could be very close or lopsided either way.

IF TAYLOR BEATS WARD I'LL HIDE MY HEAD IN THE SAND AND WON'T MAKE ANOTHER POST ON THIS SITE AS LONG AS I LIVE!!!!

After the first round, there are already numerous heads buried in the sand. I'm wondering where several of these individual mouthy jackasses have now disappeared to. And hell, it's not like these geniuses used their birth name to stake these claims or anything. If Taylor beats Ward, I just cemented my place in history as the next mouthy jackass.

We'll have to agree to disagree on Froch-Kessler.

    Taylor and Dirrell.

From what I've seen Dirrell has it very tough if he hopes to get through. He faces the two fighters that to many are the favourites in the tournament and needs the wins.

What's the system for who fights who in the semis?

True about Dirrell. He has mountains to climb.

If I understand your question correctly, the guy with the highest point total faces the guy with the fourth highest point total. #2 faces #3.

Funny thing is I got a rather rude response when I said that Ward would beat Kessler easy. I hadnt seen the Calzaghe Kessler fight since the first time it aired. So i decided to give it a viewing before the fight and it was clear that Kessler won maybe 3 rounds and the rest of the fight Calzaghe was dominating with his jab and swarming and Kessler had no answer, and the jab and inside fighting is basically what Ward does best.

Kessler needs space to operate and he hates being swarmed. MEntally he cant handle it. And thats why I question whether Kessler can beat Froch. Stylistically an orthodox puncher should be able to beat a brawler. But for all of Froch's weaknesses, he has incredible mental fortitude. I question when it comes down to it, will Kessler be able to dig deep to win.

As for a possible Dirrell vs Ward showdown, if I was Dirrells trainer I'd tell him to be as wild and unorthodox as possible. He has to out athlete Ward, he wont be able to out think him.

A rude response? Only one? I know better than that. You were probably BOMBARDED with rude responses. ****, half the posts I've racked up here are solely dedicated to responding to the rude responses to that very same statement. I was called names I didn't even know existed (Gayvid ***ging? What the ****? And I haven't heard David Fanny since 2nd grade). Damn it's great how smart a lot of the Kessler backers have made me feel. They made the small minority of posters like ourselves and a limited amount of others that picked Ward HANDS DOWN look like straight up boxing geniuses. If these folks would have paid more attention to the stategies, abilities, talent, etc. than simply what country a guy is from, or how tatted up he is, it wouldn't have to be such rocket science. ****ing lessons learned ehh Euros? ****ing lessons learned!

I was called a racist, accused of having a chip on my shoulder ect ect.

I think its mainly to do with look. Samething happened with Jeff Lacy and is now happening with Tavoris Cloud. A big handsome muscular Dane who was undefeated even though his best win prior to Calzaghe was against hte likes of Andrade and Mundine.

Soon as he fought guys who were actually world class he got exposed. Same thing happened with Lacy. "He cant hit ****" Well know ****, he was slow as ****.

Oh yes. What REALLY gave away these folks' stupidity/ ignorance/ lack of understanding for boxing/ complete sense of understanding for ballet, was the comparisons being made between Ward and Mundine. THEN...that funny ass thread (poll was included) that asked who would win in a fight between Ward and Mundine. ESB POSTERS EASILY PICKED MUNDINE!!! Enough said.
