Who will be more focussed, cool, hungry and motivated on the night - Pacquiao or JMM?

I think the fight will be won by the fighter who maintains his focuss, keeps his cool best, keeps his feet on the ground most, figuratively as well as literally, "keeps it real", whilst being the most motivated, showing the most hunger, desire and will to win on the night.

Whether you agree with me or not, who do you think will be most motivated/hungry/ambitious and who will keep his focuss and cool best?

Um... both will be hungry and motivated, no question... I think JMM's usually a bit more relaxed and Pac's gonna look like a bit nervous but that's until the first punch he throws and switches to warrior mode.

By the way: it's gona be a less-exciting-than-expected, more technical fight and a 12 rounder. That's the easy part to predict. Who'll be the winner is a bit harder. My pick is Marquez by close UD.

You could make a case for either having most to win/lose...a small difference in motivation will be a big factor in this fight, even if both are hugely motivated.

At this stage and given the bad memories for both (Pac: I couldn't KO him, big counters coming back, bad dacision; JMM: 3KDs, outboxed him, still bad decision) they ARE as motivated as a fighter can be... it's up to the boxing skills, speed and power...

Motivation was there in the first day in the gym. After 8 weeks, remaining motivated for another 45 mins is not a hard thing to do...

The chance that both will be equally motivated is small. Someone seems to be slightly more motivated most of the time. The same goes for focus and keeping a cool head. If you disagree with this premise, there's no point in going further.

This suggest to me JMM is aware he needs to stay focussed. He is certainly hungry. Is Pac as hungry? And will he not punch himself out early, a bit like last time?

On the other hand, JMM is proud and that has cost him in the past. Might cost him again! He also said he wants to KO Pac...is he realistic?

To talk about these things, I started this thread...

for me PAC looks more relaxed and physically had advantage in terms of bigger and chiseled body.
I pick PAC to KO JMM in 4 rounds

More relaxed...yeah...I get the feeling too! Maybe that will translate into focuss and cool...maybe it will translate into relative lack of hunger or demotivation...:think ...what do you think?

I think JMM wants it more. I think Pac will be more focussed and cool than last time, but that JMM will be much more focussed and cool than last time around. If JMM doesn't let his hunger and motivation get the better of him, I think he's attitude is slightly better than Pac's...:think

I know Manny very well and I feel that he is confident about his progress since 2004 when they first met. with varity of punches added to his arsenal it is hard puzzle for JMM. I hope he give PAC a hell of a fight because PAC trained hard for this fight...

Pac might be too much for JMM even if he is not fully focussed or motivated.

How focussed and motivated do you think Manny is?

Pac will win a decision somewhat like the last one he won over Barrera. This is the "new" Pacman, or at least the new temporary version. An evenly paced, more deliberate version, and Marquez will not do enough offensively to upset him. No knockdowns, and JMM may look more effective at times, but overall, it will be a close decision, with not enough offensive output from JMM to make the title change hands. Pac's fans will be somewhat disappointed with their man's performance, but he will remain the champion. I don't think he's as commited to "seek and destroy" anymore. Maybe he's distracted or something, but he could be in trouble in the future against a hungrier, power punching, younger future opponent.

    Scratch my last post!

Manny will be more collected and focussed than usual. But so will JMM. Now, lack of focuss let JMM down in his last fight. Will he be focussed enough to overcome the fact that Manny will be even more focussed than usual?

Manny will also be more hungry than usual. JMM - even more so! Will Pac be hungry enough to compensate for the extra hunger than JMM will bring to the table? Or will the extra hunger that JMM brings actually hinder him because his pride and motivation will make him lose focuss?:think
