I wouldn't have called it an annihilation, but there was certainly a broken fighter in there at the end I suppose if you hit a guy with everything and all he does is smile and keep RUNNING forward (rather than walking) it would break anyone
Margarito is the leader at the moment. he has beaten one of the best P4P (MC) and one of the best welters around (cintron)
why isn't PAcquiao on that list? If Pac beats Oscar, its not even a question. If Pac loses, but Pavlik beats Hopkins, then its Pavlik but If Pac and Pavlik lose, then its Margarito If Campbell beats Guzman and another fighter by end of 2008, he can surpass Margo
43 year old Hopkins is still one of the best fighters in the world. (SD loss to p4p#2). Also Pavlik is moving up 2 weight classes for this fight Margarito also beat a fighter he already beat, except that Taylor is about 20 times better than Cintron. Even after his losses, Taylor is still recognized as a good fighter. Also Pavlik moved up in weight for this fight. Pavlik didn't just beat that nobody, he demolished him. he showed that any fighter with a padded record should not even try to step in against him. Not even a puncher's chance. It was a good old fashioned "Go back to your country and never come back" type of beatdown.
Unless Campbell does something very spectacular against Guzman tonight (and I don't think he will), then it has to be Antonio Margarito IMO. If Campbell wins it should be him as I think Diaz and Guzman are better opposition than Cotto and Cintron (primarily because I think both Diaz and Guzman are world class, I think Cotto is but Cintron isn't), but as I said, I don't expect Campbell to win tonight. I don't like voting for someone who only fought twice in a year, but the quality of Margarito's win over Cotto (my Fight Of The Year) and the quality of his performance against Cintron make him my choice. BUT, don't write off Joel Casamayor. I don't think he will beat JMM, but if he does then he must surely make the shortlist too.
