I think CW was 190 at that time, but I'm not certain. I thought it was 190 today. *shrug* Amazing that division has sucked so bad and for so long that no one even knows/cares. LOL Why would Jones need to "rehydrate" for a heavy weight fight? He wouldn't, of course. I can tell you haven't seen the video I mentioned. It has the scale operater confirming he made a mistake, and that Jones weighed 200 lbs. Roy says this himself in the vid, as he knew the weight was 8 lbs too light. It's not like he wasn't weighing himself through training. Maybe someone will read this thread and post the youtube vid. Are you joking? Just use your head for 5 seconds and imagine Pac fighting someone like Vernon Forrest or other top level 154's. If he could beat them, is that really just on par with Jones beating John Ruiz? Please. It is this specific issue that we are discussing. But FYI, keep in mind the name "John Ruiz" matters. This as opposed to "Heavyweight champion" (which is the term I think you're using in your head when you glorify Roy's accomplishment) Chris Byrd (another SMALL champ at the time) would have been a different story and obviously Lennox would have been like watching a horror film, but worse. If Roy's win were so impressive as you're trying to indicate, shouldn't it have been a decent fight, at least? How did he dominate 11 rounds to 1? Let me guess, he deserves even *more* credit for that and so he's clearly a God? Imagine Pac beating any great 154 figher like Forrest 7-5, wouldn't that be INFINITELY better than Roy's win over Ruiz? What would the odds be on a fight like that? Roy was fighting the perfect HW for him, and he had Jay Nady calling the fight as if they were bantam weights. He'd have won anyway, of course, but it's still at least worth mentioning b/c he looked better than he should have if it were called like any other HW fight. This point isn't very strong at all. Pac hasn't beaten his opponents b/c he became some beast by rehydrating. There are lots of fighters who rehydrate a great deal, and sometimes this can even work against them b/c it makes them slow and weak on fight night. Case in point, the recent Paul Williams loss to Quintana. Pac has won his fights on skill and heart, period. And not that it's crucial, but I think you're wrong about Pac "always" coming in so heavy. He started at 122, didn't he? If so, I think it's clear his body is naturally starting to get bigger as he gets older (29 now). This is the first fight I can remember where he gained a tremendous amount of water weight back. This would be true if Roy had beat up a better heavy weight. But I'm glad I've already got you to at least back down to "welter weight." And you did this before you even read my response! Impressive. I can't even name a CW at the time, since the division sucks ass. But whaddya think the chances are there were a dozen of them who could've given Roy a better fight than Jonh Ruiz :deal I'm not saying he should have fought a tougher no name, of course. Boxing's a business. He wisely fought the perfect guy for him. Pac has never fought over 130, so your "natural weight" argument is a little weak. You're also not taking into account Pac's starting weight for his career. We always hear Roy saying he started at middle to go on to be HEAVY WEIGHT champion! You also seem to be forgetting (b/c surely you should have mentioned this given/instead of the rest of your argument) that belt holder's at weight classes are not even. Not even CLOSE. So for example suppose Pac beat a prime Zoo, Hatton, or (totally ridiculous) PBF at 140. Surely that's better than a Jones win over Ruiz. But maybe Jones gets as much credit as Pac if Pac beats some lesser champion who has a belt who doesn't measure up to those more legit champions.
@Kg Edit for the very beginning of my previous post. You never used the word "rehydrated" referring to Jones weight. I'd've sworn to Satan I read that word specifically! I must be high on something I'm not even aware of. Hehehe.
Long explanation deleted. I tire of giving explanations to posters on subjects that are subjective and therefore as long as reasonable, I shouldn't have to explain more than once. You disagree with me, so be it. It's your opinion and not mine. I offer nothing more than what I already have. Your assumptions of what I have or haven't seen are wrong, and your thoughts on belt holders is irrelvant in the general sense of things. At any given time, belt holders can be weaker or stronger. I know that as does anyone else. There is no need to mention it because I don't know the specific time such a fight would take place. I can't very well tell the future and know which fighters will hold titles. I picked a weight class 2 natural weights above Pacquiao's claimed natural weight class at this time, just like Jones. It is as simple as that in explanation.
Roy is better Than PAC in almost every aspect... But pac has his own unique qualities than makes him great...
RJJ achieved more than Pac right now. If Pac faces top-notch foes(titlist or top-3 in which division he's in), or unifies a division, in two years time, a greater case can be made. People forget that RJJ can be exciting too especially when "RJ" comes out.
Perhaps you could level some of those insults at the people who caused such a poll to come into play? You know, the author of the article which called Pacquiao a legend and said Jones, Hagler, and Chavez were NOT?
You know thoughout history of boxing guys like Pac dont stand the test of time. I think that Pac really has alot of work ahead of him to honestly make ATG list. Beatting MAB, and Morelas dont mean ****, cuz they were both well faded and it will go down that way. Before you get mad just look at the history. Sandy Saddler beat Willie Pep Not once, not twice but three times all by stoppage. And Pep is seen as a better fighter and is 15 to 20 spots higher on most if not all p4p lists. REASON Pep was past it so they said...Before the plane crash Sadler would have never stood a chance vs pep they say. That is the kind of things that Pac will face. Pac wont go down as being as great as MAB or Erik and not even close to Jones. Guys like him come alone knockout a few bums step on a couple of faded fighters then start fighting guys at higher weights or other top guys that are thier age and they start losing fights. Pac is no different. It happened to Chico(Rip), It happened to Tito and it really has already happened to pac, but for whatever reasons his fans want us to think that loses dont count cuz he is exciting.
Roid Jones' fights were mostly fought against post office workers, alcoholics, etc., he got millions fighting mostly nothings, however, he got knocked out later. Roid claimed he wanted to fight Vitali and Valdimir Klitschko, yet he backed out of those fights, good thing he did.
Name them Farmboxer.....name all the Civil Servants and post office guys he fought. Since thats all he fought, you should have no problems.
Istead of writing one liner and bashing a pac fan might as well write intellegently and discuss with details like what kg is doing. Pinning down a fan would not add anything in this kind of intelligent discussion where boxing fans reply based on the facts presented. Kg is not a pac fan but defenitely he discusses things intelligently.
Might was well add that PAC lost to all the mexicans he fought!!!:yep Which books are you looking at ? You can't face reality? GO BACK to disneyland coz there all your imaginations comes true!!!! Discuss facts not WOULD HAVE, COULD HAVE... This content is protected
