Out of the top 20 or so P4P players, which one do you think will be the first to get in the squared circle with GGG. Not who you think is most willing (because that would obviously be Froch).

    Here are some options:

    • Sergio Martinez- Undisputed Middleweight Champ, currently injured, his promoter has said he will fight GGG, but not in his first fight back.
    • Andre Ward- HBO may be building toward this, but I think they will let it build a while longer and maybe it doesn't happen until 2015.
    • Carl Froch- Froch takes on all comers, and if offered the chance to fight GGG, he would probably be all over it. I don't think HBO would be kean on this fight though, as Froch who be a high risk fight for Golovkin, and may ruin the chance of a superfight with Ward.
    • Bernard Hopkins- Hopkins is another fighter who'd probably be happy to fight GGG, but with the Golden Boy/ HBO cold war, for the moment it's unlikely.
    • Floyd Mayweather Jr- GGG has said he would drop to 154 to fight Mayweather, however GGG doesn't bring enough money to the table for Money to risk this.
    • Winner of Canelo- Cotto- These two are probably considering a move up soon, with the GBP- HBO thing, a fight with Cotto is more likely for GGG than Canelo, Cotto however would probably seek out Martinez rather than Golovkin.
    • Winner of a future Stevenson- Kovalev fight. Both HBO fighters, who HBO are looking to bring together somewhere down the road, however there is probably 2 fights for each at least before they fight each other and GGG would be required to move up 2 weight classes.

Due to the reasons posted above my pick is Ward.

2nd choice is Martinez but I think it's more likely Sergio fights Cotto after his comeback fight than GGG. I can also see Martinez losing to a guy he's expected to beat sooner or later.

I would like the Maravilla matchup the most, but it will probably be a guy above his natural weightclass. And in that case I expect Froch to be the guy with the biggest cojones.

In fairness stepping in the ring with The Cobra will also show GGG has some huge cojones too :good

Martinez hopefully. Sergio is still the champion regardless of form. I'd like to see Golovkin fight for the real middleweight title.

I think Martinez if he wins his next fight and fights with Cotto or Canelo cant be made he will have no other option but to face GGG, so cause of those reasons i say Martinez.

Froch vs GGG is a ***y fight too. ***ier after Golovkin wins the legit 160 title though.

The real truth is that nowadays MW division is weak. Probably next year HBO will match 3G with the faded-shot to **** Sergio and that fight would not be even competitive. On the other hand 3G is a small dude compared with the top guys from 168.

Canelo, Cotto and Floyd - these are the big fights that 3G should looking for after he establishes himself as the MW king by beating Sergio. The problem is that 2 of these guys are GBP/SHO fighters.

If Golovkin ends up fighting Froch in 2014 there's no way he comes back to 160 for Maravilla. He's 30+ and can't play yoyo with his body - if he puts on some muscle and finally comes into camp ABOVE 168, he'll stay at SMW. He's been coming into camp at 167-168.

i think ggg will take a shot at 154, becomes floyd's mandatory and floyd will fight him at a cw of 150.

This. Secret to long career (other than not getting punched in head too much  ) is to not cut weight. Spending 1/3 to half the year simultaneously starving and straining yourself is what breaks down your body.

Froch is the only guy I think who has the balls to fight GGG. I can guarantee you that Martinez will retire before fighting GGG.

    Sergio
    Ward
    Froch

I'd imagine he'll fight one of those three guys at some point in the next year or two. HBO has to get one of those fights made, pretty much... Hopefully none of them will slide out of the P4P top ten-ish before stepping in with GGG.

Better question: Who will be the first semi-decent, non-blown up LMW, MW who GGG will have the balls to face?
