So it's pretty much guaranteed that Joe will have one last hurrah in Cardiff in front of his adoring fans. But that's not likely to take place until the summer. By that time, the landscape of the Super Middleweight and Light Heavyweight divisions will have changed and a prospect/contender will emerge as the heir apparent.

Who will it be? i.e. Who's going to be Kessler and Dawson's only threat after Joe leaves?

He wouldn't be ducking anyone, no matter whom he chose for his last fight. You can only duck a mandatory challenger, in my book. The rest, you can only avoid. He wouldn't be avoiding anyone either, because there's no outstanding candidate that Calzaghe simply has to fight in his next/last fight, either at 168 or at 175. Kessler was the outstanding candidate he simply had to face at 168. He beat him. There's no one else right now, at 168 or at 175. Dawson? He isn't proven (question marks over his chin and mental strength, tactical discipline and decision-making) and he hasn't looked utterly dominant against very good quality opposition to become the outstanding candidate that Kesser was, for example.

I always wanted to see Calzaghe fight Glen Johnson but i don't see that fight ever happening. Johnson would really test him and it's a great match up for fight fan's imo.

He could retire now and he still wouldn't be ducking anyone.

It's been pointed out that Joe ducked Glen Johnson 3 times, but it was also claimed his injuries , and a nasty divorce played a key roll.
Now there is no real reason not to fight Johnson, or Dawson. I would preferr Johnson, but I also want MSG again, so Dawson should be first, and Johnsons' age is near Joes',,,so the age cannot be claimed in regards to Earl

hahahahah, he beat the 2 best at Lt Heavy....hahahahahha

Hopkins, yes. Roy, NO WAY. Roy was ranked #6 in the lt heavies.

Dawson is the top contender but in my opinion he needs to fight Hopkins first.

I am not a big JC fan but let the guy retire he is 37 and is on the slide. There will always be an upcoming fighter around that someone believes can beat the retiring champ.

What dies it matter when JC is past his prime and the win for the young champ will just be tarnished by that.
