:rofl at the notion of a ginger boxer ever becoming a huge mainstream star in the US.

Again, that's not true. The general public in the US know he is, and were the driving force between the superfight with Pacquiao. They know Mayweather's name, and they're willing to fork out money to buy it.

I don't even live in the USA (I live in England) and everyone I know knows who Mayweather is.

It's a matter of styles. Vlad likes to be the aggressor, but Wilder would go in there and attack him with faster hands, so I think Wilder has a pretty good chance of beating Vlad.

Tyson Fury likes when the other guy comes forward, especially if the guy has poor defense. Wilder is reckless when he attacks, so I would favor Fury to catch him coming in and stop him.

I think Povetkin beats anyone in the division, unless the referee helps the opponent to cheat. Povetkin would attack Fury fast and while tucking his chin in for protection. With better handspeed and footspeed, Povetkin would win wide on points.

Povetkin would have an even easier fight against Wilder. His head movement and footspeed would allow him to get inside on Wilder, and I don't think Wilder fights well on the inside.

The biggest PPV consumers in the U.S. are the Latino markets.

And even if every last one of them down to a man were fellow gingers it still wouldn't happen. The US public just aren't ready for something that at this juncture in time. 20-30 years down the road maybe but not right now. Even I don't agree with it and I'm pretty open-minded.

Anyone here under 30 might easily overlook that Mayweather wasn't known outside of boxing despite being a distinguished champion for a good 7 years. He needed to fight the bigger name that Gatti had to begin to become more known, and he needed to fight Oscar to reach mainstream awareness. Floyd spent years chasing and whining for Hamed, Gatti, and Oscar. Since then that he's the best fighter p4p is what's mostly accounted for his fame. Almost every other other boxer who's reached massive mainstream fame has done so through an exciting ring style or charismatic personality. Pretty impressive really that Floyd with neither has become a mainstream star.

Golovkin and Canelo are indeed fast becoming mainstream stars, in the US and internationally. Both have got a lot of mainstream press attention lately. Canelo would get more exposure of course if he spoke English. But being a Latin American star in the US is being a fairly mainstream star. If they fight next year it would be the biggest fight not involving Floyd or Pac in a decade. And the winner should be the face of boxing and have mainstream appeal in the US for a long time. Boxing without Floyd and Pac would need a star, and that guy would be pushed to be it.

Someone like Ward doesn't have the luxury of fighting an established star to make his name. Usually there's a bit of a passing of a torch, and I don't see that happening with the top young fighters today. Crawford even if he beats Pacquiao won't reach even Golovkin or Canelo's current popularity. He could fill Vegas arenas but that wouldn't mean he's a national mainstream star.

People might start buying PPV because of the fight instead of the fighter's sh*t talking/lifestyle.:rofl
