Now that Whyte is not mando, who will the WBC appoint as Wilder's new mandatory challenger for the WBC heavyweight title?

He's already fighting 2 and 4 (Fury and Ortiz), and 3 (Joshua) will be fighting Ruiz.

Probably no one for a while.

The fair thing to do would be to install Rivas as mandatory.

It *should* be Rivas, but when has boxing ever been about what's right?

No it shouldn’t. A loss to a drug cheat is not the same as a win. That result will or should be changed to no contest, which is the same as if it never happened.

Rivas should have to defeat someone else in an eliminator now.

Kownacki (if he beats Arreola) would probably be best available in WBC rankings. So Rivas vs. him.

I am sure the WBC will do the wise thing and pick the best candidate from the choices Deontay and Haymon email to them.

Based on recent run of opponents it has to be Stiverne. Who else has had back to back fights with Joyce, Wilder (x2), Rossy and prime Arreola(x2)? He hasn't taken a soft touch since 2012. That sort of risk taking needs to be rewarded.

No one is saying it is. But that fight was meant to be for the mandatory position and Rivas was denied a fair contest. The fight can't realistically happen again, so I think he deserves a break and given the mandatory position regardless. But yeah you are right in regards to two boxers fighting for the right to be mandatory. That is the WBC's usual method but I consider this an exceptional circumstance.
