Ortiz and Fury are already on deck. Wilder won't make it past Fury so it's really a moot point.

He should keep his position of being in an eliminator but as if the Whyte fight never happens. Give him another bite at the apple vs best available in WBC rankings. Let’s not go all Fres Oquendo here.

    How is it moot?

This wasn’t for Wilder mandatory, it was for WBC mandatory. If Ortiz or Fury Bear Wilder, they would win the WBC and have to defend it.

Just because Joshua lost doesn’t mean Ruiz won’t have to defend those titles.

I mean, I see this argument. It's entirely valid :deal:

It's moot because the original question of this thread was "Wilder's mandatory", not the "WBC mandatory". It's also moot because IMO Wilder was dominated by Fury in the first fight and I believe he'll again be dominated and his reign will not go beyond a Fury rematch.

IMO Wilder's "mandatory" is whoever Haymon and the WBC feel is a good fit for Wilder's style at the time. Any other WBC titlist will likely not have that benefit. If the question posed were specifically "WBC mandatory" regardless of current titlist, I'd have a different answer.

Apart from Fury Why does Wilder always get the soft option with other fighters???
Whyte now out of Fighting Wilder Povetkin the same going back.

Fair enough — moot to the purposes of discussion as defined by this thread title but obviously the mandatory that emerges is not moot.

I personally don’t dismiss a champion because I disagree with a decision. You can argue that Ali lost to Shavers or Young but that didn’t make their next fights title defenses. Meldrick Taylor didn’t have to make a mandatory even if some disagree with the Chavez stoppage. Etc.

All of the WBC mandatory so far was a complete joke and garbage, so i expect more of this, so the protected c**** Wilder mil the title more.

I get it, my post was meant to be super specific.
