This content is protected vs This content is protected - KO. ------------------ Hughie Fury vs Michael Hunter - 2nd of july ------------------------- Both fighting eliminators. I'd assume the winner of each of these fights will fight each other, as I'm going to assume you cannot have two mandatory challengers at once... but knowing the WBA... I think the next round will be Dubois vs Hunter. But I think Hughie may actually nick it. If Hunter is already past his best, Hughie could want it more, and then could take advantage of Dubois youth. The thought of the likes of hughie fury getting a title shot is amusing. If I had to pick, I'd say Dubois. I think he's got some skills, and was simply beaten by a good opponent when he was only 23 years old. Joyce cannot be KO'd and Dubois is very Mike Tyson like, and was too young to know how to deal with a good jab and a solid chin, and took a wise knee to avoid a needless injury so young in his career. I'm going for Dubois.... the only worry is his inexperience, but I think he's capable of KOing anyone here. However, if Usyk beats Joshua again... Usyk is going to obliterate any one of these 4 anyway... if he doesn't lose to Fury after that is.
Usyk beats any one of them WBA's mandatory is again the weakest. A few weeks ago Josh Taylor was stripped of the WBA title for not fighting WBA mandatory who most of the people on this forum hadn't ever heard about before the news. Keith Thurman forugh 6 times in 4.5 years (Jan 2015 – July 2019) before losing the title to Pacman. How many times did he defend the title against a mandatory? Robert Guerrero (Voluntary defence) Luis Collazo (Voluntary defence) Shawn Porter (Voluntary defence) 'On July 15, WBA announced Thurman would have a mandatory defense against interim WBA champion David Avanesyan (22-1-1, 11 KOs). Both camps had until August 13 to negotiate the fight or the WBA will order a purse bid.[53] Due to negotiations breaking down, the WBA elevated Avanesyan to 'regular' champion and Thurman was named as the WBA's 'super' champion.' Cherry García (unification) Almost stopped by Josesito López Sold his hymen to the senior filipino warlord What happened, WBA? Why did not you strip Keith? What Thurman does next for nearly 2 years outside the ring? Does yoga and makes love to his Thai wife which is 100% fine, but he was not stripped? Josh Taylor was. And he is far more active.
IIRC, once the WBA Regular champ defends his title five times successfully, he automatically becomes the mandatory for the Super champion
Hughie is the narrow favorite, but Hunter could show up looking like the guy he used to be any day and make it seem dumb anyone ever thought he wouldn't win and Dubois is on the upward developmental trajectory so who knows? Of course, winning a fight called an eliminator has less and less connection with getting a title shot every day. Currently the WBA is the most ridiculous sanctioning org, they've clearly gone a level below the other three (hard as that is!) and should be demoted. Let's go back to a three belt era, or if we must promote the IBO and give them a shot at ruining the sport.
LOL potentially if Fury comes back and beats Usyk/Joshua we could have a Hughie vs Tyson fury undisputed clash... That would be funny.
I think Fury would vacate or retire. Fury will likely fight Joshua vs Usyk winner, Hughie, if he becomes mandatory, will have to wait until after.
Jesus. Pump the brakes here professor. Dubois is 6'5" Tyson is 5'10" Dubois fights tall standing up, Tyson fought out of a crouch. Dubois has zero head movement and little in the way of defense. Dubois movement is that of a stiff oaf walking through wet cement who blocks jabs with his face. Tyson was defensively elite and slipped punches to create openings for his power. About the only thing they have in common is that they hit hard.
