Who will broadcast khan - maidana?

Sky only list the matches that they're showing.

 

Golden Boy really are doing a ****-poor job of showcasing Khan here in the UK. It's the most significant fight of his career, and it would be an awfully bad move if they fail to utilize SkySports' powerful hype machine. Especially on a night where the audience will already be entrenched with Warren's December 11th card, SkySports would have done wonders marketing Khan/Maidana alongside it.

It seems as though for second time running, Golden Boy will be leaving it late and settling last minute for ITV - who won’t have the time or the muscle to advertise and promote it well enough. Khan’s second fight in the US will again go under the radar here in the UK. Frank Warren would never have let this happen. Mind you, Frank Warren would never have let Khan fight Maidana either.

But **** it. If it’s on ITV I won’t be complaining. I get to watch that **** for free!

 

Goldenboy are not in charge of selling the UK tv rights for Khans fights. Thats down to Khan Promotions.

How do you mean? Khan/Maidana is on the same night as the Wlad/Chisora fight sure.

I wouldn't say the Malignaggi fight went under the radar as such - loads more people watched it than they would've if it was on Box Office or Sky Sports. But yeah I understand what you're saying about the Sky hype machine.

But surely they're in charge of promoting Khan here in the UK too. They're required to liaise with Khan promotions/management to maximise the interest in the country he's from.

But ok then, Khan Promotions should take a more active step. Either way, they're making a mistake not getting a deal with SkySports in a timely manner.

 

Yeah a lot of people got to watch it. But ITV weren't able to create and run any ads during their prime-time viewing, simply because it was given to them in the last minute. And their marketing isn't as good as Sky's, who reach the correct audience immediately.

There was an interview Boxing Monthly with the main dude at Sky. He was saying there was only Sky deals with 4 promoters; Hearns, Maloney, Hatton and Warren. The only exception to that he talked about was the card last weekend that was supposed to be on with Groves, and he said only because they were building a good relationship with Hayemaker.

Anybody else outside that had to get on another promoters card, like Hennessy's fighters. There might not be anything in the pot for KP. Seems strange though, Khans big selling point surely is his marketability in Britain, and nobody is building that up.

There are no current deals in place for Sky to show the Amir Khan fight. However there's time yet to go for TK to stop throwing their toys out of the pram.

Good news though for anyone not paying for the Warren card, It's unlikely to be on box office and will most likely be on SS1.

 

No, they only list matches they think are relevent. Which in the case of UK boxing means it's usually Sky who have the fight. There are cases where they list them but do not broadcast them, Khan's fight with Malignaggi being an example.
