If they price it correctly, no more than $14.95 and have a decent undercard. I dont see where it does'nt well surpass the 40k buys that was created by Hopkins vs Dawson. Sad to see Jones still going on at this level, but hey if he's in financial trouble, you've got to do what you've got to do.:?
sometimes they have to fight PPV if HBO or Showtime dont want them. Top Rank has done it before, direct PPV's so oddly enough you get some really horrid PPV's
I dont think its just about money, Jones is one of those guys like holyfeld that is going to keep going at it, He really thinks he is going to be champ again. If it was soley about money and Jones had a good head on his shoulders and was realistic about himself, he would be hand picking opponents that wouldnt give him trouble and wouldnt be getting KTFO all the time. He keeps going to the ropes and getting KOed. If he was just milking this for money he would pick feather fisted slow guys at 175 that he could win with his speed, not going up to cruiser
You're absolutely correct. People were bashing JC Chavez Jr. because he was headlining PPV's. The reason Jr. was headlining PPV's was because neither Showtime or HBO had an interest in televising his fights. Now that Jr. is a champion and stepped up his opposition level, HBO has come aboard and televised his last two fights. ......not suprisingly, Chavez' PPV's did quite well, enough to have Arum put up several of them. The position that Jones is in now, he likely financially needs to keep fighting, but none want to pay to put him on the air. .....when that happens, you put yourself on the air through PPV. IF this fight does'nt make money, you can be certain Jones wont try another. If it does, we'll be seeing more of Jones Jr. on PPV.
Holy ****!!! I just did some digging to find out how much $$ this actually is. It isn't on the Comcast programming schedule yet (it only goes ahead two weeks, to December 4th) - but a little Google work revealed that it won't be turning up on the Comcast schedule anyway - or any other programming guide for any other cable or satellite provider... THIS IS NOT EVEN A NORMAL TELEVISION PPV. IT IS AN INTERNET-ONLY PPV. YOU HAVE TO PAY $10 TO WATCH IT ON USTREAM. AGAIN: NOT ON TELEVISION. PAY $10 TO WATCH IT VIA THE INTERNET!! atschatsch :rofl:rofl
$10 would be damn cheap for a PPV you could watch in Hi-Def on your big screen television, with even one decent undercard bout. $10 is a massive ripoff for what will probably be a low-rent and choppy stream featuring a bull**** main event (Jones vs. a completely feather fisted guy who's been out of the game forever, has lost or drawn in six straight, and hasn't won in almost five years) and absolutely NOTHING worth mentioning on the rest of the card. Not one thing.
Damn, you just made my day :rofl Roy really keeps his business in order :rofl They will hold the fight at Roys garage. Garage ustream PPV for 10bucks yippyyy
...I wonder if these poll respondents will change their tune knowing that they'll have to watch a choppy feed on a little square in their computer monitor?
IB, a couple of Vitali Klitchko fights were on live and free on ESPN 3 online. The pic clarity was actually not a bad at all. Not HD quality you get on cable or sattelite, but still up to par. .....the problem with selling this fight however is that Jones is going to be fighting some bum off the street who likely does'nt even know a proper boxing stance.:!:
ESPN3 did provide a very good product with their online streams, but nothing I've ever seen on Ustream indicates that something from that site can compete with the clarity of an ESPN3 feed.
