Who will David Haye face in his first Heavyweight fight ?

I'm thinking it won't be a high profile name at all.

 

I want to see him take on the best since his big mouth is constantly saying that he is going to be the savior of the division so he shouldn't waste any time and fight the tough fights!

 

Golota would be a great opponent for haye big & slow past his prime, coming off a win and a shaky chin to boot.

Plus still some name value :good

 

I heard he was looking to possibly fight Shannon Briggs. I think that would be a pretty goo fight for him, seeing as Shannon is a pretty good fighter and a former world champ. He is also starting to age. It would be a test for Haye and also shoot him up the rankings when he wins.

In all seriousness, Rahman seems perfect. Good name, world ranked and beatable.

That wasn't a 1994 version or the version that fought Holyfield. An old Golota doesn't have "comparable" power to that of the 1994 Foreman.. not even close.

 

What about Eddie Chambers?

He isnt a real threat in the power department and also isnt the biggest HW.

 

If they are really considering only top 10 HW then I think Rahman, Moorer, Maskaev, Golota, Bidenko, Briggs, are the ones with the best chances.

It really depends on when it's taking place, because if it's november, then the chances of Haye fighting the winner of Rahman\Toney are really big.

 

Povetkin would be a good start and then a shot at Peter to get an easy title

If Haye is REALLY serious in making a statement into the heavy weight division he should fight . . . Alexander Dimitrenko.

This guy is inside the top ten rating ratings by all the four sanctioning bodies.

Rated #5 by WBC and WBA; rated #2 by WBO and rated #1 by IBF. If he wins . . . then he can talk of the title holders.

 

Actually - I hope he comes up with a name sooner rather than later.

What I don't really want to see is months of speculation and an ongoing saga messing people around with rumours and on again/off again scenarios.

Basically - I hope he gets a deal and fights within the next 2-3 months. Boxing gets dragged down by top fighters taking 8 months to sort out their next fight only for that date to be postponed due to an injury or set back.

No need for him to do more talking.

But I think Haye will fight the Rahman TOney winner. A new Rahman Toney II article on the mainpage says something to the effect of what would Haye do if Rahman were to not win his Toney fight.

They say Haye won't fight til later in the year, and I think they are timing it so it'll be the Rahman Toney winner.

 

Whoever represents maximum gain/minimum risk.

Bonin was clearly custom ordered to make Haye look good- impressive looking record (against cans) with no real power or talent to speak of.

So, for Haye's next Heavy fight think upgraded non-threat. Most likely someone washed up with a name. Preferably with a questionable chin too- Golota, Rahman, Briggs.
