Serious question. I can't for the life of me see him fighting his mandatory Povetkin, ever. He'll either pay step-aside money to avoid it or drop the belt entirely. Who is a realistic next opponent for Wilder?
Who knows, but there are two certain facts since this is a Wilder match: - it will be a bum - said bum will be forced to take the fight on short notice - at some point, the bum will stun, hurt, or make Wilder look bad in some way
No way will he drop the belt. Why would he ? Better to take his chances and fight and win than let it go for nothing!
Haymon knows he's going to Moscow to get his ass kicked, he's built up his guy with a couple of cookie wins just to bump up the check on that last payday.
Lets think of the easiest fights out there in the WBC top 15 rankings: Carlos Takam Kyotaro Fujimoto Lucas Browne I think he can get away with the one of those 3. And his casual fans will all proclaim him as the second coming once he wins.
i was surprised he didn't fight fujimoto this time but then again even the American public would think a Japanese heavyweight was a joke. Browne is a good pick his useless, Takam beats wilder
Takam would destroy Wilder, people seriously underrate him on here. Browne, Fujimoto, De Mori, Wawrzyk and Breazeale are good candidates for Wilder.
Yes Browne would be the best choice. He looks the part and has a personality. But he cannot fight to save his life. Takam has been extremely inactive recently so would be rusty as f***, and his handlers could sell it on the African American fighting the African angle.
Duhaupus wasnt a bum, hopefully he fights someone on that level or above. No more Eric Molina's but he was coming off an injury.
Just think, only 3 short yrs ago, Chauncey Welliver was rated in the top 10 WBC. If only he'd have beaten Tank Williams and that Fujimoto cat......he coulda got that 160K payday vs the Champ.
That's not up to him. If his "adviser" says no to the Povetkin and Wlad fights, then he has no choice but to obey and drop his WBC trinket
