I dont think Ryan is guaranteed to beat any of the top guys at 140. This includes Taylor, Prograis, Teofimo, Rolly, Matias, etc. I think all of those are 50/50 fights and none of those wins are guaranteed. Golden Boy also has few guys at 140, and does not promote any of the guys I mentioned. So who will he fight and how does he do at the weight class?

Just give him a ranked easy win. Jose Zepeda would be a good one.

everything indicates that he will do badly... he does not have the basics of boxing which makes it difficult to win over any elite fighter... everything will depend on what his next big step will be... if he starts to take on decent rivals like Pedro campa and improvements are seen in his posture in his footwork... in his way of throwing blows... defensive and offensive improvements... he will have a bright future...

He wont do well. He kept on leading with a left hook against Tank and abandoned his jab pretty much after round 1. When he threw his punches they were telegraphed and didn’t throw a second shot behind anything he was leading with. It was as bad as Santa Cruz throwing 3 right straights in a row.

Prograis and Taylor will batter him. Teo will land his straight at will, Garcia doesnt move his head well at all. Rolly is a 50/50, he can outwork Garcia but is susceptible to counters and can see Garcia landing his hook.

He wont be a legitimate world champion at 140, he might get a shot at a vacant title if it comes to that but wont beat the top guys and earn it

I suspect we've seen the best of Garcia already, when I first saw him fight he used to counter punch a little so I had hoped he wasn't going to be another Khan, all talent but no ring IQ of craft. But if anything he might have gotten worse with the change in trainers from what I've seen.

Maybe he goes back to Reynoso or finds another trainer and he can then learn to actually box rather than rely on his athleticism. If he does, maybe he has a future, but he needs time to rebuild and retool. The potential is there but if he's now making good money he might not have the drive to put the work into improve. Talent isn't enough at this level, you need to put the work in.

lack of chin and heart is a bad combination. He is mentally weak , as soon as Gervonta dropped him he lost all fire. Once a quitter always a quitter, he quit that easy it's bound to happen again.

I just don't see him doing much. He won't beat the top guys. But he might get some decent wins, might sneak a world title against a weak champ but won't hold onto it long

I think he'd do fine in that company. He'd absolutely school Lopez

While I don’t think Ryan is great, I think he’s better than he showed against Tank.

As a former fighter, I thought something was off when I saw him getting his rhythm while they were being announced. He was jumping way up in the air super energetically - I think he had a mental issue and way too much nervous energy.

Do I blame the loss on this? No, great fighters overcome such things. However, I think some of the fundamental mistakes he made were partially a result of this, and that he’s usually a bit better.

I mean, at times he literally in turned away, covered up, and leaned over when Tank approached him…. No way a top level fighter who has fought his entire life reacts like that normally. Feeling Tanks power could have had something to do with this too - but remember… this guy has been in the ring A LOT in his life….
