That sounds like the exact logic of an hater. GGG is being bashed for fighting bums yet Canelo is getting rewards for beating the left over of one of those bums.

Rewards for beating Kirkland? Nah, that was a pointless fight and proved nothing. I bashed Canelo for taking that fight. You really shouldn't assume things. So here's one of these:lol:for you!:good

I suspect the G-force is aiming to create a legacy now, hes after all 34 soon. That means a legacy fight or three. Canelo would be ideal but Cotto would be good too. Add a former champ like Sturm or someone more active like Abraham, all beatable for 3G yet providing solid names to his resume. yeh they are/were smw but they would be better bets than the major ones, who might pose serious danger to him.

After that attracting a genuine HoFer would be the key to a good career.

It got him the "KO of the year" and It was one of the two fights that made him "ESPN fighter of the year".

It was a good KO, no denying that. Fighter of the year is subjective. You mean Awards? You made it seem like the fans are giving him rewards.

Award-reward whatever. On a side note, I saw many people claiming GGG didn't deserve to fight Martinez because he fought only bums, but the same people didn't have a problem with Canelo landing the middleweight championship bout after a win over a left over of a bum. That's interesting too.

Total different set of circumstances entirely.

    1) GGG wasn't known until the Proska fight, he had no fan base and brought no money to entice Martinez with. Why did you think Martinez chose Cotto? Money and maybe confidence as well that he would beat the smaller Cotto.

GGG did 150k PPV buys and though k2 reports they made profits off the fight, 150k in PPV buys looks terrible to the people's eye. I mean Vitali/williams did more than that and was considered a flop by the people at HBO. So that really shows despite his popularity he's not a Superstar then or even now.

    2) Canelo has a huge fan base and is a Superstar in the eyes of the fans and experts, part of that popularity is because he's a "good-looking" kid who Fought on major PPVS thus getting exposure and being a very talented fighter as well, and he also has the 3rd highest grossing PPV of all time with Floyd. Why is it you think Canelo got the Cotto fight? $$$$$$$!! The fight made people richer! :thumbsup

I can't disagree with some of your post but "deserving" and "bringing the most money" are two completely different things. GGG was around and considered a top dog when Martinez defended against Murray. If you say he was too big risk for Martinez without enough reward to match the risk, I'd concede that. But he definetly didn't deserve it any less than Martin Murray or Daniel Geale, that's for sure.

Yeah I was going to say that too, but I figured you know that as legit reason too. It's all about money these days, instead of fighting to see who the best is. It's a shame.
