I really don't know. I'm not sure if Canelo would allow himself to be stripped, but if GGG goes full WBC champ then I'd expect BJS to jump on that.
He beats Khan, faces Saunders for unification, Billy Joe schools him and is robbed, then he faces Jacobs who knocks him out, which they rule a slip and give him a chance to recover, Jacobs goes in for the kill and gets knocked out cold because you know what happened with Mora By then he'll have a mandatory rematch for the belt he stole from BJS....so on and so forth.
Khan has already gone on record and said he's not fighting Golovkin if he wins. He's happy to give Golovkin his kudos, and say he would probably be too much, like Baker did. Then again Macklin and Murray both said they wouldn't but manned up and fought him. I also think Saunders will eventually. Much more refreshing attitude than the likes of Lara, Jacobs and Quillin (and Ward to an extent) who say they can beat him, will fight him but hide behind politics to ensure that fight will never happen.
Despite Bhops history with fighting the best, does anyone get the sneaking suspicion that Bhops fight offer only extends to Golovkin on the basis that he fights Bhop instead of Canelo. In the back of my mind I feel like if GGG refuses Bhop in favor of Canelo and Canelo decides to vacate, Bhop would either retire or jump to fight another title holder like Sturm or AA and claim GGG took too long.
I definitely wouldn't be surprised if the situations with Canelo and B-Hops are some how related. But at the same time, Hopkins has expressed an interest in Golovkin for some time now. At least since shortly after his loss to Kovalev, and if I'm not mistaken, Golovkin's name may have even been mentioned before that by Hopkins.
He also hinted at GGG before the Kovalev fight. He mentioned (I'm assuming if he one) he'd drop down and target someone with 3 letters. Which I can only assume is Triple G
In all honesty, I'm a little surprised by the results thus far: - 11 for Hopkins (including me) - 7 for Canelo - 4 for Jacobs - 0 for Ward and BJS - 4 for Other Small sampling size, and probably meaningless in the grand scheme of things anyway. But this suggests to me - for what it's worth - that a plurality, a sizable faction, views Hopkins as the one most willing to face GGG from the bunch. I hope this comes together. :smoke
How do you force El Pollo Alvarez to fight his mandatory Golovkin? The WBC can't seem to force him, the same with Cotto..............I want to see Golovkin clean out the 160 lb. division before he goes up. SOB Ward fans do not want SOB to fight Kovalev, but HBO is trying to get him into the ring with Kovalev......................Ward has been putting the fight off................so...................Ward fans............perhaps you can watch Kovalev knock Ward out!!!!!!!
Hopkins was willing to step in with Krusher when he didn't even have to. Hard to imagine BHop being afraid to step in with anyone.
