I think Broner is a tool, but he does have some real talent. I just don't see that much talent in Canelo. Not a big puncher, not real fast, I think he is in for some serious beatings in the future. Just my opinion

Broner will likely have a deeper resume and more belts because he has the ability to move through several weight classes. Canelo is likely only going to make one leap.

Plus, GBP is handling Canelo with such kid gloves, I'm afraid they might handicap him.

This is a really tough question. I'm not sure.

I see Alvarez as having the perfect promotion/management/"protection" to allow him to have a long and prosperous career. However, I don't see Alvarez being truly effective at middleweight against the elites there, whoever they are at that future time, and certainly not above that even late in his career. I think Broner is a legit talent and will move through several weight classes.

If they both retired today and never fought again, Alvarez would have been the more accomplished, meaning the better, fighter.

Alvarez. Will make considerably more money, get marketed more heavily, have many more high-profile fights, be high ranking on the P4P list, etc.

Broner might one day crack the top 5 of a P4P list, but it doesn't change the fact he's a homeless man's Floyd knockoff to the point where it's a little creepy, has like 1/15th of the skill, and didn't beat anyone noteworthy at 130. Broner might be able to get past DeMarco, but the likes of Matthysse & Co. at 140 would be too much for him. He might not even be able to go to 147. And knowing what an undisciplined fellow Broner is, he'll likely have to climb the weights. He'll probably be at 140 by late 2013.

Canelo, meanwhile, will be able to stay at 154 for a long time, and has the potential to put together a dominant run there for awhile, and still leave open the possibility of a later move to 160 that may or may not work out, depending on who's in the division when he moves up and whatnot.

I think Alvarez is more likely to have the better career. Broner could have a great career, too, but I think it's less likely.
