tough to say, joe's got a case as the best 168 pounder ever. i think wlad ranks in the top 20 heavies, vitali in the top 25. none of the 3 dominated or even beat great fighters but calzaghe can say he was the best of his era and his division, the klits can't.

The Klits are not done yet. But the competition in HW does not look bright at all! Unless they keep fighting another 10 years to wait for the next raising HW star to come around (and thats not Haye) and beat him. Or they decide to fight each other. None of them will pass Calzaghe imo.

C'mon where is all the passion?! Usually the Calzaghe and Klitschko are the most passionate fans on these boards.

RJJ shot, BHop completely past it, Eubank over the hill and took fight at short notice, Kessler is no better than say Chagaev...

Everybody loses. Do you think Calzaghe is as good as say Duran, Ali or Whittaker or pretty much all of the ring magazine top 100 fighters of all time?

    Wlad.

Exists at HW, doesn't have the issue of fighters at other weights being around and him being expected to face them. Has dominated every fighter that's come in his pathway and generally HW's get rated higher than other divisions.

interesting points . . . i suppose he would rank higher among casual fans because he is heavyweight. But what about Hardcore fans? What about the writers and other experts? Who ranks higher in your eyes?

Joe is the only one that would break into most p4p lists, I think.

35-23 for wlad over Joe, i thought Joe would take this because the Klitschkos would split the vote. Joe's army is letting him down big time!

Right now Calzaghe because he at least "beat" a Hopkins who was still dangerous, crafty and a world class boxer. He has a few other decent wins on his resmue too. The Eubank win while he was young was very good. Kessler at his peak, and the Lacy performance will always be highly regarded. A lot of detractors will point to Robin Reid, struggling big time with Nard, and cherry picking fighters like shot Roy, Pudwell, and Veit but he never lost and the talent was always there.

Wlad is right there. He has a few slips. One while he was green and he was very active at the time. Young fighters who fight a lot are prone to let downs or slips. The 2nd loss was a horrible styles matchup and he has improved since then. I like his activity and he seems to at least fight heavyweights with a pulse most of the time. Chambers, Brock, the 2nd Brewster fight, and Chagev fights he was dominant.

Vitali is a notch below and it is a shame. His lack of activity because of injury, and retirement is a reason why he is below the other 2 fighters mentioned.
