The popular vote will be Alvarez, Probably going to be Mares.

I voted Alvarez because after he beats a top 3 guy he will be put in the top 10 P4P list, just watch and see. Mares on the other hand will have to work very hard to get the recognition he deserves, so in reality, Mares is similar to JMM making a name for himself, but imo Alvarez will be the next Mexican P4P fighter.

I have yet to see that something "special" in either one of those fighters. The only one who I think has been less babied is Mares. For being so young, he has been in there with some big names.

Canelo has been taken care of so far. GBP knows they have a cash cow with him, and I doubt they will put him in with someone extremely tough.

Jr. has s----------l----------o-------------w------------l--------------y turned out to be a decent fighter, but it remains to be seen if he can do the same with world-class opponents. I think the measuring stick will be if he can beat a good, slick, black U.S. boxer.

I doubt Mares gets the top spot. There aren't that many good names at 118 at the moment and the smaller guys aren't respected as much. I don't believe Mares appeals to Mexico as being 100% Mexican if you know what I mean even though he was born there and lived there for a while I believe.

    Canelo takes it.

    Horse ****.

Segura (weights the same as a sunflower seed) was in the Top 10 P4P by Ring. Donaire is there. Pacquiao, Floyd, and Marquez are there. All small fighters.

They wanted to canelo on with Paul Williams and Kirkland. I'd say they are tough opponents.

I'm not a big fan of neither.

Chavez is a non tested bum in my eyes
Canelo is too soft. He should have out the hurt on Mosley
Mares has no star potential at all. Hes way too himself.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the TS was asking which fighter from Mexico will take the spot from Marquez as the best fighter from "Mexico" P4P.

    True true...my bad.

I got to give it to Canelo I guess. Mares right on his heels.
I don't see much Mikey Garcia..call me crazy.
Mares has more skill set than anyone on this list.

Yeah, but Williams is damaged goods. The KO he suffered at the hands of Martinez took a lot of years out of his career not to mention his ability to take a punch.

Kirkland would be a good test at this point. I'd say that is a pretty even fight at this point.

Overall I would say Canelo although he would be given a run for his money by Chavez Jr. And no doubt it's because of the legacy Jr.'s name carries: most casual Mexican and Mexican-American fight fans I've spoken to only know Jr. while it seems that only the diehard Mexican fans I've spoken to know Canelo as well. As for Mares, almost none of the Mexicans or Mexican-Americans I've spoken to even know who he is and usually get very surprised when I explain he's originally from Guadalajara.
:good I'm surprised he was left out of this list. But being a Mexican-American might hurt his chances with the more discriminatory fans on top of his more patient, technical style.
