I think most of us will agree that Oscar will retire.

He is the only fighter today who can guarantee 1 million+ PPV buys.

He is the only fighter who can guarantee his opponents 8 figure paydays.

He is boxing's only crossover superstar in the U.S.

    Who will replace him?

nobody in near future with state of USA economy, there will be no 1million PPV next year and maybe the year after, all sports in USA are going to take a massive hit in the next 2 years.

If everything clicks, then I'd go for Juan Manuel Lopez.

think about it PAc vs David Diaz did about 250K and Pac vs JMM did over 400K

and also, Hatton vs PBF did 2.2 million PPV sales.

so obviously the sport can break a million without Oscar. Easily.

Boxing, as a whole should have thought about this a long time ago. As great as the Pac victory is for me, and as great as this is for boxing fans. Its horrible for boxing as a sport, now that the more entertaining match-ups can only be seen if we pay for them.

Going to be interesting to see how boxing deals with this. If we are lucky, it could lead to times more similar to late 80's and early 90's, when it wasn't odd to see great machups and big names on ESPN.

Pacquiao vs Hatton or Pacquiao vs PBF would do a million buys.

A million would seem to be a bit ambitious for either fight but I would envision both doing extraordinarily well.

PBF-Hatton didn't even do a million buys and that was before this recession.

I'd like to see the numbers from tonights fight before I make any predictions though.
