i don't see anyone topping dawson. he already has a win over adamek, who has a very good chance of being a future heavyweight belt holder. he might run out of quality opponents tho. there is tavoris cloud, bj flores, bhops at 200lbs and i'm sure acouple 168lbers might be willing to go up in the future, like bute, ward, froch, kessler, etc

if darchinyan keeps winning then there are few to match his credentials. undisputed champ and if he keeps his composure in the ring it could be some time before he loses again.
he's not scared to fight anyone and that's the main factor that separates the top p4p guys from the pretenders.

Komeda has to worry about Wonjongkam ...

for future P4P ... i'll go with Rigondeaux ... or Tim Bradley or Chad Dawson ... those guys seem to be main stays ... I'll also toss Andre Ward's name in the mix ... especially should he win the super six and remain unbeaten.

 

I'll list them as to where they stand, P4P, as of 2/9/13. Haha, this is fun:

Ward - P4P top 5 on even his worst haters' list, this was the best prediction of the list

Bradley - who would've guessed he'd have a W over Pac? Top 10 P4P'er, has been for years.

Dawson - LHW champ but down from where he was when this thread was made.

Gamboa - undefeated still, a couple good wins with Solis n Ponce but Salido only elite win; bad inactivity of late

Abraham - didn't carry to SMW against best opponents of career well, has fallen way off.

Khan - War w/ Maidana, unified belts, but back to back L's to Lamont and epic KO by Garcia.

Berto - exciting fights, but decisive losses to on paper much smaller guys in his biggest fights of career. Choker.

Pavlik - recently retired

Williams - paralyzed

Valero - dead

 

How times change.

If only Pavlik hadn't abused alcohol as much we would have the probability of him mixing it up with Ward, Froch, Kessler, Bute, Abraham, Chavez Jr., GGG, and company. If only Williams wasn't paralyzed we would have the probability of him taking on Martinez III, Chavez Jr., GGG, Canelo, Cotto, Kirkland, Angulo, and company. If only Valero hadn't done what he did, we would have the probability of him taking on Pacquiao, Marquez, Garcia, Khan, Rios, Maidana, Matthyse, and company.

As a boxing fan, these three guys are sorely missed in the sport. The type of events they could have produced would have been fan worthy if not fight of the year candidates.
