I think it will depend upon how well his fight sells in the US against Ortiz. The long game is to hopefully make AJ/Wilder in the US in Vegas on PPV but the fight needs building. If it does well and Showtime agree it's PPV worthy then it could very well be Joshua, as that 50/50 split then might not seem so ludicrous with US PPV money added to the pot. But if Showtime still thinks it isn't PPV worthy they both might fight another opponent in the summer before trying to unify. Will undoubtedly be another Haymon fighter. So maybe Kownacki, Martin or most likely Breazeale who is his mandatory.
If he wins, maybe Martin or Breazeale who aren't good but still worth to brag about for him. If he loses, every tomato can within a 100-mile radius must be evacuated at once.
I'll be pleasantly surprised if he actually fights Ortiz. He knows he's holding a golden ticket with the WBC. He's not made a respectable defense of his belt in over 2 years, so why do it now when he's so close to cashing in the ticket? Joshua and Parker are more alike. The winner could easily take some 'easier' defences whilst being a unified champion with 3 belts. They won't though, whoever wins will want Wilder next (if not a rematch).
He will sit out an AJ fight unless he fights someone out of the top 10. He's not going to roll the dice twice. Fujimoto !
He'll either fight someone old, or a chinny journeyman. Wilder will NEVER fight Joshua, nor any other good heavyweight in his prime.
Yeah but it won't be in 2018. AJ will have an IBF/WBA mandatory and possibly a rematch with Parker. When Wilder demanded 50-50 he basically has set this fight at least another year back.
That is why Hearn offered him Whyte you thicko. But no Americans think they are so clever and treat as a Pass to Joshua. No it's not that it's to build Wilder in the UK as a fallback option if Wilder/Joshua is not big enough to be in Las Vegas and US PPV
WBC will mandate Wilder-Buffet 3 because Buffet deserves another shot after giving his all last time.
Ortiz will pull out again, then it'll open up another opportunity for wilder to fight a slow, high-guard counter-puncher as usual so he can add another easy ko. What's worse is that you could argue that ortiz will fight wilder (If they fight) in a slow, high guard style. It's bound to happen. It will make wilder look good. Just wait until he comes against someone who actually comes forward... He'll be 51-0 soon, after fighting 51 slow, high guard bums.
