We are only in May and already we have seen a fair amount of Shattered Glass. Lemieux, Dzinziruk, Kirkland, Solis etc. So who do you think will win this most prestigious title?:think
Glass knee award goes to Solis. Glass jaw award will be won by RJJ again, after Lebedev puts him to sleep.
Kirkland is the clear leader at this point, but if Haye gets knocked cold, as I suspect he might, he could win it.
I could see if Haye were starched in the first few rounds by Eddie Chambers or Tomasz Adamek, but this is Wlad Klitschko we're talking about. Nobody questions Austins grill or Byrds or Brewsters or CHagaevs etc, but all felt the fury of Wlads power and were stopped. I see the Haye fight ending similarly to the Byrd fight, but if Wlad tries to stretch the fight until the 12th as he predicts, he, himself will end up tasting the canvas.... Bad Karma not trying your very best, and if he doesn't end Haye sooner rather than later it will bite him in the ass.
If the opportunity presents itself early - as I expect it will - Wlad will not let Haye off the hook just to punish him. He knows exactly what you are saying. You get your man out of there when you can. Haye is gonna get laid out cold early.
I voted Solis; that was the most disgraceful thing i've seen this year. He got rocked by a *weak* temple shot and his knee went out trying to keep himself up. *weak* compared to an average Klitshcko KD punch. If Haye gets Ko'ed, it's not because his chin is weak. It's because he got ramrodded by Wlad. Most folks get KO'ed that way.
I agree and HOPE your right, but even if Haye is KOd badly and early, Kirkland was still KTFO early and often by a featherfist.
Forget about shattered glass, Lebedev is most likely going to give a renaissance performance of "Shattered Brains" featuring Roy Jones Jr.
:deal Yep Zakkers, this is the thing. The poll will be open until Christmas so we could see an influx of votes for another fighter as the year rolls on. Democracy in action. :happy
This is a sound argument but Lebedev punches pretty hard and was a champ, Ishida is a feather fisted Japanese guy who was lightly regarded. Kirkland easily wins the Glass Jawed Disgrace of the Year based upon these criteria: Quality of Opposition: 0 Ishida was lightly regarded in every aspect and was supposed to get KOd within two rounds. Kirkland, if he had any mandibular fortitude, should have knocked Ishida into the stands with his first punch, decapitating him immediately. Chin Demonstration: 0 Knocked down three times from grazing shots. Kirkland's jaw is the most fragile kind of lightbulb filament that is liable to snap from the vibrations of sound waves that exit a person's mouth when they talk to him. I'm convinced some of those punches didn't even land and the sound of the crowd's cheering just caused his jaw to crumble. Profile of Fight: 8.5 A showcase fight on HBO PPV. Millions of people saw it. Failing on this stage means something. High marks in this area are a plus for GJDOTY. Was it hilarious: Yes Kirkland staggered around like a schizophrenic vagabond who is convinced his legs are made of rubber and there is a gram of crack somewhere on the ground if only he could just get down there while avoiding the hot lava everywhere in the sky. Overall Pathetic Nature: 10 Truly the worst loss of the year for any fighter to suffer. Expect James Kirkland to be dangling by his underwear in a penitentiary sometime in the next 6 months. It's science.
