That is the big question right now. It will probably be Areola, Haye or Toney. Povetkin-Waldo will take place in September with Povetkin taking a tune up before. I watched Areola last fight again. He has zero chance against Waldo. Too raw and inexperienced. He does not even have a puncher's chance because of his obvious technical flaws. Wlado is too expeerienced to get caught by such a technically flawed fighter like Areola these days. He fights smarter under Steward now.
nah, if toney ever fights one of the K bros, he will be stopped. he's never fought any heavyweights with the combination of power and accuracy that the K bros bring. peter has heavy hands but no snap and certainly very little accuracy therefore toney could brace against each shot. against the K bros it would be slaughter.
He is not a pontentioal force-he is a force. Toney has only been defeated by Peter in his 5 year heavyweight campaign. To the objective eye, Toney defeated Peter the first time. Areola and Hayed are still unproven. Bur I would like to see Haye - Waldo. At least, Hayehas some skills and adds some exitement to the division. But I doubt the fight will come off.
i too want to see a wladimir/haye fight, but why do you think it wont come off? both fighters dont have a record of ducking fighters and both fighters are also their own bosses in their respective promotional companies. :huh what gives you doubts?
Wladimir has trouble with guys who move their head. Toney is still elusive. Klitchko had also a hard time to connect on Ibrahimgov who under Mayweather fought a poor's man James Toney style. I guarantee you thât Toney will make Klitschko miss. Remember, Toney has not been seriously hurt in 20 years of boxing.
Well, they have been negotiationg the deal since quite a time and nothing has come off. That is usually a bad sign. I have a feeling that Vitali might fight Haye early next year after Haye has a couple more fights. But it would be an exciting fight. If it does not come off Haye should go after Toney or Areola for an eliminator.
i have no doubt that toney will prove slick and tricky initially. but do rememeber a few things. 1. ibragimov has taken out big heavyweights in style so he does possess ko power even though he looks like barney rubble . i've never seen toney do this at heavyweight. well aside from a shot holyfield i guess. secondly toney in my opinion lost to oquendo.... that is saying something about how slow and shot he is these days. if a prime toney fought wladimir at heavyweight then i could see it going to a UD for wladimir or very late stoppage. back to power, wladimir handled chris byrd easily in their first fight when byrd was young and prime. why is that? because byrd doesn't have much power. in fact i would think byrd has shown more power than toney. also add in the fact that toney is short both in height and reach, and doesn't lunge in with fast shots like say, corrie sanders. toney prefers to rope-a-dope his opponents or casually walk them down. toney might make wladimir miss early on, but wladimir will certainly not be touched by toney. of all the current options i think only david haye poses the biggest danger to my fighter because he has the physical tools to mimic corrie sanders. but having said that i still want to see a dangerous matchup because i have faith in my fighter. but in toney i just think he is a legend... but at lower weights.
well have a little more faith because i really think something is being worked on as we speak. i think both fighters know it's too huge for the divison to pass up. but just as importantly it's also gonna be huge money too. also i think steve bunce had haye's manager on his show last week and adam booth said we'll be hearing something soon.
1. Everybody has trouble with Oquendo and that inlcudes prime Byrd and Ruiz. So, I do not think the Oquendo fight proves anything. I thought Toney deserved a close one and fought well against Rahman II. But I do agree with you that this is not the Toney of 5 years ago against Holyfield. 2. Ibrahimigov has more power but is less elusive than JT. 3. Toney will make Waldo miss a lot but will not beat him. Waldo will probably win by UD. 4.Haye does carry power and is quick. In a way he is more deserving of a shot than JT because JT had many opportunities already. But on the other hand, Haye is still unproven at heavyweight.
