This is too hard to judge. Back in Toney's day, he was fighting like 6 times a year. Ward fights like once every 2 years. I'd pick Ward though. He's beaten a wide variety of styles, and not lost in his career. It would be a very interesting fight though, to see who would get the edge on the inside. I think Ward is the smarter fighter of the two. Good matchup.
Toney, even with SOB's judges, referee and boxing commission.......................Toney was smarter than SOB..............
if he'd done what he'd done without PEDs then he is atg. But no, used drugs too regularly, it wasnt even the just one time with an excuse, he was hardcore user. Concerning the thread, at SMW, Ward really wins, hes had more success there and shown just as much breadth as toney. However - Toney was at SMW when it was fledgling division with no real purpose to stay in it, which is why he didnt stay there, so that reason my be redundant. Toney wins at LHW.
This. Not confident enough to think Ward would take Toney to school, but I still see him winning. Always helps their case when you haven't seen them be defeated before. Even if the first Kovalev fight could be seen as a loss.
toney just because there is no other fighter i enjoyed watching more. this guy had a rhythm that just flowed.
Ward is a great fighter, although Toney at his best was probably better. What Ward's got going for him is his consistency. He is always very very prepared ... Toney not so much. Statistically a regular Ward performance > a regular Toney performance.
