His reign at 160 doesn't have any great MW names, but it is a ten year reign with 20 defences, which in itself is a very decent accomplishment. His greatness was established AFTER that reign, however. After Taylor 2, many thought they'd seen the last of Hopkins. His move to 175 and the thorough schooling of the bigger, younger reigning RING champion Antonio Tarver, was a great victory. Add to that, his defeat of Winky Wright ( a very good win) and his subsequent defeat of prime, undefeated Pavlilik, himself a two-time conqueror of Jermain Taylor. This was a truly great win. And then, at age 46, his capture of the WBC LHW crown from prime Jean Pascal. This was another great win. So, considering the length of his MW reign, and his subsequent great wins at higher weights, up till age 49, the man's All time Great status is firmly established.
A clean Marquez beats a clean Manny ten times out of ten. Hell he beat a roided to the gills Manny and completely dominated the clean one. And when he finally went on the gear himself, at the age of 40, he damn near killed him
I'd have to say triple G The 2001 Hopkins was still green and killing himself to make weight. He was at his best in around 2007 to 2009 at 175 :thumbsup
That Tito would wreck anyone GGG has fought, and likely will fight anytime soon, at MW. I think GGG would be that Hopkins' stiffest challenge, and would stand a good chance to win. I think GGG's skills are very underrated.
Bhop would be unpleasantly surprised when he finds out that Genady can box. I predict a tko by GGG, and I am a Bhop fan.
Prime Hopkins edges Golovkin in a clear, but competitive fight. Post Taylor Hopkins vs Golovkin is 50-50.
It sucks that he didn't fight Toney. I think Hopkins would have beaten him there and then made his 160 pound resume unquestionable.
