foreman that fought holy or the lewis that fought vitali who wins/??? my pick foreman....by tko:smoke
Nar , he has not a chance , Lewis against that Foreman when Lewis was still champion ? This is a joke , i dont like Lennox but , he would stop Foreman here
Eh. The fighters that beat Foreman during his comeback were mobile ones. Morrison became very active against Foreman and actually circled his man, for instance. In Lennox's last fight against Vitali he seemed unable do anything approaching that. He ate a lot of massive shots. Just didn't seemed like he was capable of being as rangy and what not as he used to be. Never a good idea to trade with George, and while Lennox has a very solid chin he could be caught right on the chin and taken out. Comeback George has one of the very best chins ever and has no qualms taking bombs to do what he needs to.
If guys on the level of McCall and Rahman could starch Lewis in the heart of his career, I think one of the greatest punchers in HW history could take out a fading version. :nod
I'd pick Lewis rather easily. And just because he chose to trade with Vitali doesn't mean that was his only option. Lewis at damn near any age, would be a better boxer and mover than Foreman ever was. Not sure what would happen if they sat and traded, but I don't think Lewis would do that against Ol' George.
Prime vs. prime, I pick George to bully Lewis and bust him up pretty bad. I'm just adding this as a forethought. McCall and Rahman caught Lewis with punches he never saw. George's jab would be stiff enough to have Lewis' attention all night. George is going to have a hard time landing his clubbing right on Lennox. George may have a few moments, similar to Bruno getting Lennox in a corner, but I don't think they would be enough. Lewis by decision. I'm being nice to George here. Lewis' right hand was a monster, and George was very easy to hit.
For once I have to agree with your redundant points. Foreman at 42 was still maybe 3 years away from knocking out Moorer, and fighting actively scorching everyone in his path. He went the distance and stunned a much better version of Evander Holyfield, than the one that Lewis struggled with many years later. Goerge's power was devastating at 42, and his defense was by far better than it had ever been. Lewis at age 37 was still the best heavyweight in the division during the early 2000's, but he was definately showing noticeable signs of deterioration. The Rahman fight was one of them, and the Klitschko fight would later amplify it. Although I still think Lewis could have boxed his way to a decision at that point, its not something that I'd put money on. George knew how to cut off the ring, block big shots, and hit guys with straight jabs followed up by thunderous overhand rights. He would also murder Lewis in the clinches with those little gut checks he gave guys. I make no convictions about who would win, but I would not be the least bit surprised to see a 42 year old Foreman KO a 37 year old Lewis. My $0.02
George had a lot of respect for Lewis...based on his HBO commentary. If George catches Lewis early, then he will K.O. him. Otherwise, Lewis by SD. (Maybe I will ask George next time he is here in Dallas )
dude lewis stood right in front of vitali....im talking about a 37 yr old lennox,......if he stood in fron of foreman even at age 42....LENNOX WOULD GO BYE BYE...
Tough fight to pick. 37 year old Lewis could stick and move to UD. Or George pulls a come from behind KO a la Michael Moorer.
Foreman at 42 was no longer one of the greatest punchers in heavyweight history. His punches were slow and labored, and against a tall, rangy fighter like Lennox, his punches would be even less effective. Plus, Foreman had none of McCall's and Rahman's speed.
George looked spectacular against pathetic opposition. Lennox Lewis was a full-sized heavyweight with skill, something that George never willingly fought during his comeback. Lewis at 37 was a very good fighter. I don't think he was in the best condition for Vitali. Lewis seemed to be a fighter who improved with age; he was fighting better than ever in his mid-30's. NO way a slow, plodding, easy-to-hit George Foreman beats Lennox Lewis at any age.
Lewis I believe would fight his usual intelligent fight and keep Big George off balance with his jab and varied arsenal. Foreman would be game as always though. Lewis by UD.
