You can't get these types of picks right every time - more often than not, other things being equal, youth will triumph.

I don't think Baldomir is any better than Gomez in terms of ability. This is a "pick 'em" fight otherwise, and age tilts the balance.

Won't matter because Forrest is gonna beat Baldomir anyway, then it's back to tomatocan-ville for him.:yep

I'd lean towards Gomez. He is quicker and much fresher. I respect Baldomir. And he is a tough old veteran but he just wouldn't walk over Gomez. Gomez has shown himself to be tough and his draw with Jesse Feliciano looks great in hindsight after Jesse kicked the **** out of hot prospect Delvin Rodriguez. Jesse, at only 24, is now a dangerous welter even though he was a punching bag at 140 -that weight just wasn't right for him. And Gomez rolled through Gatti easier than Baldo and Gatti claims he was more prepared for this fight.

The Forrest fight is going to be brutal, and SHOCKINGLY, Baldomir is the betting favourite!:rofl

We'll be making some extra rent funds on that one!

Everytime I see Gomez he surprises me. He got the best of Manfredo in
the contender reality show. I thought Manfredo should have been the
class of that field. All the commentators, including my man Steward
suggested he kind of sucked and should lose to Gatti and once again
Gomez comes out and just beats the living daylights out of Arturo. I
mean total domination in all aspects of boxing. Superior jabbing, greater
accuracy of punches, terrific defense, better combination punching,
better footwork. This guy can box and I think his power at welter
is underated. If he keeps improving a new star is born. I'm going to
be a fan of Gomez from now on and will watch his progress with great
    interest.

I keep seeing the name of Jesse Feliciano . . . what's the big deal and so impressive on getting a draw with a 15-5 fighter?

    Can anybody explain that?

I like this fight a lot actually, and it's a lot closer than it looks. My brain is telling me Baldo because it's his fight on paper. But for some odd reason, my gut is saying this could be a ripe upset, just waiting for Gomez to pluck it.

Baldomir would not have a size advantage in this one, so he's basically got nothing here. Gomez by wide margin UD

Neither guy can hurt the other, they both have iron chins and neither one can crack very well. I'd say Baldomir is a little tougher and has more stamina, but Gomez has more boxing ability by a decent margin, speed(though both are slow) and reach. They have about the same level of workrate, which is pretty high. Could go either way, though it mostly depends on Gomez' stamina imo. I see him outboxing Baldomir the majority of the fight with Baldomir coming on late to make it interesting, but Gomez pulling out a close decision.

The Baldomir of the Gatti or Judah fight wins, that I am sure of - he may have declined now, who knows

I'd take Gomez in this. He's not as bad as some posters make him out to be. My guess is they hated the contender.
